2020 Ranger 520L Trailer Hubs
2020 Ranger 520L Trailer Hubs
I have a 2020 Ranger 520L. I haven’t had any issues with leakage or bearing failure. Two of the wheels have a very small amount of play on them. Haven’t replaced the seals or greased the bearings at all. I check the temperature of the rotor when I travel for more than a few hours, and they run 110-150 degrees depending on how hot it is. I’ve been told that they are good for 100k miles and not to worry as long as there are no signs of leakage. I presume that these are oil bath cool hubs? I’m considering doing some maintenance because I don’t want any issues while I’m traveling. Should I switch to grease hubs?

Those should be Vault Hubs AND not need service for 10 yrs, well unless they start to leak. Watch the wear on the tires of the one's you said have movement, could need the spindle nut tightened a touch. Other than that, if it ain't broke, don't fix it !!

Thanks for your reply. I don’t even know how to access the spindle nut. My old trailer had bearing buddies and you could just tap them off with a mallet. These?
Re: 2020 Ranger 520L Trailer Hubs
If you infact have Vault hubs, remove the bearing protector like you used to do with your bearing buddies. Remove cotter pin and I believe a washer and a spindle nut cover. Rotate tire while hand tightening nut ( approx 18 inch lbs) reinstall washer and nut cover. Align the cover so the cotter pin will go through, WITHOUT LOOSENING THE SPINDLE NUT AGAIN!
