Junebug?

Post by RJB »

For those of you who fish this color what time of year do you find it working the best? I have a bunch of plastics in this color but never use them for some reason. Thanks!!

Junebug jigs work very well year around I use 4" twin tail yamamoto grubs. Wintertime rain water stains up they work really good. Finesse jigs are really working now. The spotted bass here at millerton and pine flat and at mcclure
Eastman jigs in junebug are also on LMB.
are get with it on that color. 4" or 6" worms with chartreuse tail are working also

All year long, it's more about water color. Typically works better in stained to dirty water but that's not set in stone. The first flip fish I ever caught was on a junebug color brush hog at Clear Lake in March. One of my favorite color combo's for punching late summer to early fall (clear water) is a green pumpkin skirt paired with a junebug hog.

3 color combo jigs Brown/Green Pumpkin/Junebug the jig is called Sour grape using either Junebug trailer or watermelon red/ black flake trailer. And all 3 color complement and dominate each other when mixed together.
Another really good clear or stained water bait.
And other good year around color.

Junebug is a great color I flipped at Clear Lake over 20 years only used 2 colors watermelon candy and junebug used to buy them 10 packs at a time both colors mostly fished junebug in off colored water. The color is a blackgrape with flake black grape goes way back to Manns Jelly Worms in the 70s or before, purple always works with plasic baits but black grape really caught um chartruse tails are good on worms too. Brush hogs work good on a C Rig and sometimes on a 5/0 1/2 oz jig on stucture 5 to 30 feet. It is a good all around color all year and just not in stained water. Fish it alot gain confidence it will work
the best way to catch a big one is don't lose um sharp hooks set drag retie!
