All I ever use for leader material. I use 10 power pro super slick and 8 fluorocarbon on my dropshot all day long and have for over 25 years. At Clear lake I will bump it to 10 and 12. I use the 10pp - 10f for my senko's but again I go to 12 on clear lake

I didn't like it. Pretty stiff

Rip is using Red Label as a leader, as the OP inquired, stiffness isn’t a factor.
Price is apparently your driver and Seaguar has introduced Bass-X as a budget FC.

I tie a double uni...reel the knot within an inch or two of entering the reel and trim it about 3 guides down hanging out of the rod tip. I tie up my rig in the fluorocarbon so the knot is never in the reel. 5-7 feet depending on the rod in my hand. Stiffness doesn't enter into the equation for me. I think the line might test stronger than rated but It works for me. They tell me I have to use 4,5,6 pound test here in SoCal. They are wrong as I have proved time and time again. Don't worry about the color of your braid scaring fish either as I've been down to a foot of leader and still caught fish....They really aren't that smart. They cannot put two and two together so they aren't shy about jumping on a hook tied to a fluorocarbon leader. I do the same in Saltwater and have tuna to 70#'s on this rig with no issues. Anything bigger around and you start crimping on your terminal gear.

The most important factor with fishing line is your confidence using it.
seaguar today offers 25 yard spool of Gold Label FC for $18 and sells Red label 200 yard spool of FC for $18. Is Gold label 8 times better or 8% better, that depends on you!

Funny you would say that. I was using the gold years before it was at T.W.. I got it on the beach before getting on a 11/2 day out of San Diego. The 70 pound bluefin I mention was on 25 gold. 2 speed reel and silky drag...Good stuff,,,,

If you are looking for a leader line, I'd suggest the Gold Label as my first choice. Its knot strength is amazing.

I have been using the Red label for at least 10 years. I typically use 15# yellow braid, usually Power Pro with 10# Red label. I use the Crazy Alberto knot to splice them. I can tie it very quickly and it is very strong. It may not be a slim as the FG knot, but it is plenty slim enough. When I tie a fresh leader, I usually pull off 3 arms length, about 18 feet. That gives me plenty of leader line to retie multiple times before I need a fresh leader. I have not had any issue with the knot winding on to my spinning reels. Very occasionally I will down size the leader to 8# for drop shot or spy baits. I will go p to 12# leader for Clear Lake. My wife uses spinning reels at El Salto in Mexico. For that, I spool 30# PowerPro and 15-17 flourocarbon leader.. I cannot recall ever losing a fish to line or knot breakage with these set ups.
