Before I get to results, I thought I'd make a request to the WWN faithful. Apparently this year, Richard and Jerry were unable to obtain sponsorships this year for the end of the year trophies etc. So the cost came out of their pocket. So next Wed lets pass a hat to show our appreciation to these guys who volunteer their time and effort in making WWN success. Donate $5.00, 10.00 or 20.00 to offset the expense. Thought being that anything over the cost would be added to TOC money.
Now onto the story. So Josh and I are fishing a windy stretch, when I see Josh is hooked up. We have a small limit so I inquire about a net. (I'm in the front of the boat and Josh is in the back.) Josh being Josh is very soft spoken and I get the indication of "I don't know?" The demeanor changes when the fish makes a run, next thing ya know, there's a fish maybe 5 on the surface. Well tonight I'm standing in for Forrest Gump, as I dip the net into the water. The wind is pushing the boat about 2mph, so the netting is drifting backwards. A scoop and a miss. Another scoop...... another miss. Finally the fish is in reach and as I scoop................the crankbait hooks the net. The fish is not in the net. The net is scaring the fish. I am cursing and Josh says I'll grab it. As he reaches down the fish flops and viola...into the deep. Darn.
That fish would have put us in the money. We were able to catch a couple of more 2 plus, but in the end not enough. To add insult to injury, I'd asked Josh to pick me up a few baits, but I forgot so I left the money at home. Oh well. It sucks getting old, but other times its fun.
It took 13.30 to get paid and 20.63 to win. There was an 18.30 bag for second and then weights dropped to 15 and 13.
I'll be with Forrest at the snag proof and let y'all know how that turns out.

Re: WWN Help
I think Pops is going to be covering the trophies for next season, but anything to offset the price would be appreciated!

Re: WWN Help
Being of Italian and Irish decent I have learned from the voices in my head that tell me anything is a good idea as the other half always validates the idea as being sound. In the real world I now know if the thought occurs in my head and it's a fifty fifty proposition there is a 100% chance that I am wrong based purely on my genetics....
Sorry for your lost fish but I 'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been a wwn if you had landed the fish...

Never scoop at a fish. Have the net out. Have net man hold net under water. Swim the fish into the net. Long as net isn’t moving the fish won’t rush. it’s way better than stabbing at a fish.
