I hear the last time it had snowed this much was 42 years ago. I know in 75' when I was a senior at Upper Lake High School it snowed just like this. It was pretty awesome as I remember the Cobb mountain area was impassable and without power for weeks. My friends who live in Scotts Valley say it might be three days before they can get all the down tress out of the way and they have no power. Good times. If I'd have stayed any longer I'd have been there awhile.

Central valley north fork looks about the same
1000 ft above the valley floor. Rains been falling steady all day here.

I thought brutal covered everything... ...Very few fish. It was very insightful to talk with other anglers after the fact and see what pattern would emerge. It turns out that the one angler we witnessed catching fish was using bait. Water temps were up to 52 in places and WHAM! That ought to keep folks guessing for another few weeks. While I thought I knew what was going to go down I got put in my place because the fish didn't read the same book I did. It can be done but we came away with a different view than prior fishing would have us believe. It really wants to go off but that is out of the question for a bit I am sure. If I lived there I would be found floating dead in my boat as I never want to leave....Good luck the next 6 weeks should be epic.

I haven’t been out. But I don’t consider a few tournament guys doing good as good fishing. 80 boats in last new jenn. 20 limits. And 20 blanks. Calling for rain/snow through first week in March Just need sunshine

My friends had one of those limits. You have to keep moving to find fish that are eating. Off the hook isn't really much more than a month away and the first wave is always best in my opinion. It was a long drive but we didn't go for the fishing as we were there as support for some family issues and my fishing is/was the icing on a 1000 mile journey. It never fails to get funky and set some sort of weather record when I go but that's fishing. I got over 7 inches of rain at Casitas this last Friday so my home lake isn't much better off and maybe worse than Clear Lake. The only thing I saw floating around there was a few sticks and tulies. By comparison there are whole trees floating around on my home waters. It snowed down to 500 feet which is mostly gone now but from 2000 up it will be a while for the cold snow melt to start trickling in...We should go up another 10 feet or more. I'd rather fish Clear Lake than the flooded brush of 7 years of drought here any day. The fish we caught at Clear Lake are visibly much more healthy than the starved ecosystem down here by leaps and bounds.
