New term to me!
Before Florida strain LMB were introduced any LMB over 8 lbs was a Lunker. After FLMB a 12 lb FLMB was considered a trophy size.
My personal yard stick became 15lbs for California FLMB being considered a giant LMB.

Tom,

I think he is asking about props. I am not sure but, I think the Trophy Plus has vent plugs and the Trophy doesn't.

I’m not sure, but it’s been the plus for along time. Might be the vents or newer style hub system. The trophy has been around for a long time. I did quite a bit of testing with it on my proxs and was never satisfied with the performance. The hub is smaller in dia then the gear case which may have hurt its performance a bit. I have also thoroughly tested the Fury, Tempest and Bravo 1 xs. Would be glad to make a recommendation is post your application and requirement.

Thks guys, yes talking about props. Currently running a trophy 25 p and was wondering if it would make any difference with a plus. Using it on a merc 4 stroke 115 command thrust which requires a larger hub than the standard 2stroke smaller hub. Issue, feels like the boat is falling off plane, but doesn’t, thought maybe a trophy plus might have slightly larger blades for more bite to stay higher on plane, if that makes sense. Used a 23p 4 blade trophy, max out rpm s, less wot. Thinking of a 24p 4 blade, but this testing gets expensive….. any thoughts?

Bottom line, is a trophy plus any larger than a trophy of the same pitch. ?????

This issue has gone against what little I’ve learned….. currently running a 2022 ranger 188p, 4in jack plate, t 4 stroke 115, command thrust. Came from the factory with a 23 pitch trophy, which I thought at first glacé to be to much prop. However, it max out rpm s at 6300. This was was when I started experimenting with props. 1st 24p small hub trophy, way over max rpm s, 2nd 23p 4 blade trophy, way under max rpm s, lost some wot, currently running 25p 3 blade- wot 6100 rpm, wot about 4 mph which was advertise for this boat…….which seems to work, except the feeling it’s sliding off plane, but doesn’t. I may be over thinking this trying to establish this perfect set-up. Need some words of wisdom👍

I'm not sure what you mean about sliding off plane. I would run a 3 blade prop for that application. Prop it so that it hits max rpm without having to raise the jack plate so high that it drops the bow. This should be with the motor fully trimmed up.

The pitch depends on the lower unit gear ratio that you have. If it’s the lower option, higher numerically then you can run a higher pitch prop. With the lower gear you should run a 23-24 pitch 3 blade prop for maximum performance. Mercury recommends a 24 Fury or 23-24 Tempest. From my experience the Fury is harder to turn then a Tempest. I would say a 23 Fury or 24 Tempest.
