What's wrong with the State's water policies
From Max Gomberg's resignation letter as he leaves as the State's lead climate scientist, along with another anonymous scientist, OTPR_Water:
"To my Water Board colleagues:
Witnessing the agency’s ability to tackle big challenges nearly eviscerated by this Administration has been gut wrenching. The way some of you have simply rolled over and accepted this has also been difficult to watch.
"However, your commitment to racial equity is a reason for optimism. A tremendous amount of time and effort is going into creating a meaningful action plan and that is worthy of praise. But, following through on those commitments means leaning into conflict. Some of you need to dig deep and find your moral compass. If you cannot do that you should step aside and let others lead."
OTPR_Water adds:
"My state water agency has an unspoken internalized mandate that nothing we do can lead to conflict or the admission that policy changes will create losers. We will let existing injustices and suffering for lack of water exist forever, so long as any real-world pains aren’t because of something we touched or changed or did. This means that poor people (farmworker communities, the homeless) and the voiceless (fish, creatures, rivers) have been and will be neglected into extinction while the agency studies and models and creates decision frameworks."

so hes quiting cuz he cant stand to watch the dysfuntion of the states water agencies,so explain how this would afford him to further an agenda.El Jefe wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 7:28 pmTypical liberal APPOINTED buerocrat.... hardly an unbiased professional capable of doing anything beneficial for anyone except his pre determined political allies.mark poulson wrote: ↑Tue Jul 19, 2022 3:44 pm

No, he is quitting because he CANNOT implement his "Woke" agenda. This has ZERO to do with water or how it is managed.Bobp wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 8:50 pmso hes quiting cuz he cant stand to watch the dysfuntion of the states water agencies,so explain how this would afford him to further an agenda.El Jefe wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 7:28 pmTypical liberal APPOINTED buerocrat.... hardly an unbiased professional capable of doing anything beneficial for anyone except his pre determined political allies.mark poulson wrote: ↑Tue Jul 19, 2022 3:44 pm

There is one answer to your question. Why would a water board be concerned with racial equity? Why are you asking a bunch of conservatives to give you an answer to your whacked liberal way of thinking?

Re: What's wrong with the State's water policies
Read the last sentence in the letter posted.
Studying a solution to resolve California water problems hasn’t solved anything in over 60 years.
The Feather River Project allowed water to be used by everyone in the state. Increasing the aqueduct flow and deeper pumping is detrimental to the Delta and local framers.
Living in a arid Mediterranean climate water is a problem for everyone, it shouldn’t be a political problem.
Desalination and nuclear power plants along California 900 mile coast solves the water problem. Action not studies is why the resignations are occurring.

Here is a link to his LinkedIn .... it's filled with all kinds of liberal gibberish like "partnering with progressive organizations".... "let's add a million electric vehicles in Ca".... also, earlier in his career he worked as an "Investigator" for the Equal Employment Opertunity Commision.... like I said Mark.... hardly a biased neutral scientist that is interested in finding solutions to help EVERYONE.... He is a woke, liberal, hack politician from Berkeley that has done more damage to this state than good.... But you knew that

If you don't like what's happening where you live: move. All of this energy from bi7ching can be better put to use packing up your shi7 and getting a U-Haul.

Typical lack of intelligence by someone making assumptions. I am not a liberal to clarify, but the constant whining grows old. Is your life THAT bad here in CA? If it is, do something about it instead of crying on a bass fishing forum about politics, which I promise will not change your situation.

Re: What's wrong with the State's water policies
It's not liberals. To understand what's drivingwater policy you need only follow the money. So Cal Metropolitian Water Districts and billionaire backers, owners of Almond and Pistacio Corporations, make sure So Cal get as much Delta Water they need.
Governor Newsome was Mayor of San Francisco, but he came from So Cal just like Govenors Brown and the Terminator.
One tunnel instead of two! How about none? Shasta and Oroville are at historic lows. Folsom is releasing insane amounts of water. Last year, Folsom Lake hazard markers made it reminiscent of an ole drive-in theater.
Liberals or conservatives it don't matter. Rich Corporations and large contributions to influence politicians is the problem. The whole system is corrupt. That's why I fish! When I am fishing nothing else matters. When there is no more water, what will we do! it will be to late!

True. The vast majority of politicians representing Ca beginning with Newsom on down the chain are not liberals
Re: What's wrong with the State's water policies
I guarantee you that it's not rich liberals influencing NorCal water policy. For people's who blame liberals for everything need education cure ignorance.
Re: What's wrong with the State's water policies
I heard Kentucky got lots of water and few liberals. Perhaps a better place for liberal haters!

Moving south east is better for fishing
The majority of bass pros who grew up on Ca waters move that way soon as they have the means
Ca can’t even get a full field of fishermen for pro events
Follow the money? I followed it right to rich In charge of Ca taxing us to death
Re: What's wrong with the State's water policie
Less then 20% of the Feather River project canal system finds it way to SoCal. The canal is a open water system the looses water from evaporation and leaks. The vast majority is used by big agriculture in the San Juqiane valley.
SoCal needs to utilize alternate water sources for the foreseeable future, that means desalination of coastal ocean water.
Big agri isn’t going to give their straggle hold on water rights or politicians whoever is in office.
Without water we are all domed regardless where you live in California.
You all need to pull together regardless of your political politics being liberal or conservative, it’s a survival issue of the sport we love and the state we all share.
