back in the early and mid 2000's I updated and re-tooled my entire arsenal:
Casting:
Shimano Cores 50's & 100's
-Curado E's
-Old School Citica's (non superfree casting) - which I still love.
Spinning:
Sustain 200's HG's - for power spinning
Stradic CI4's - for finesse spinning
And all Rods are Loomis IMX
its all at least 10 years old but still in good working and appearance conditions as i dont get out as often id like.
My question - is the newer equipment with today's current technology - both rods and reels - worth a new investment in equipment. and say for a moment that money isnt a factor (which it is, but not for the purpose of this scenario).
after a full decade+ of my existing equipment, would another re-tooling of my equipment be timely? or wasteful?
What would todays best replacement brands be to modernize my equipment while maintaining the high quality and meeting a similar price point to what i already have.
looking fwd to the knowledge of the people on this site to help me out.
Equipment Update
Re: Equipment Update
If they work for you and you have confidence in the equipment then use em and save your money for fuel (you’ll need it). Might have reels serviced.
Re: Equipment Update
If your reels are still functioning as they should, your good. Not sure what gear ratios you have but you might want to get a couple of 8:1 ratio reels. I myself like the tatulas for price and quality. As for your rods, you should be good with your Loomis IMX. I don't think you need to go out and replace all your rods and reels. I think it would be wasteful. Remember, the fish don't care what type of rod and reel you have. Another determining factor for rods and reels is the application that you are using them for. If you have the right rod and reel for the application, than you should be good.
Re: Equipment Update
Reels in good condition you’re fine. I still use some of the same and am totally happy. Rods depend on if you need the latest and greatest. Without a doubt for bottom contact techs there’s better but doesn’t mean what you have isn’t good enough, just means do you want to spend for something incrementally better (how big that increment is is subjective). But overall you’re in good shape!

But if you're itching to buy the latest and greatest, do it! I am a fan of not doing that but your call
