Lake depth research and spots

Post by Hookset5 »

Sometimes i cant put something down.

Ive been spending some time with digital maps (contour elite) to find good spots on lakes and resevoirs. Twice now i've been duped because my spots are on land due to lowered lake levels.
I decided to find some data online that would tell me current lake levels, so i can adjust my mapping software accordingly. I found this site http://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/reservoirs/RES

Which shows in the middle column, percentage full. I CAN determine the lake depth based on this percentage but is this percentage based on depth or acreage volume?
If there is another way to find current watet levels im all ears! Thanks

In cdec reservoirs page, select daily reservoir elevation, select your reservoir. It will report elevation.

Keep a log each time you go and record lake water elevation. I think with these lakes in Cali that this is one of the most important things to keep a rcord of.
