Is Amistad dun fer good?

Post by Calmassey »

Only 110 boats in the FLW Rayovac and nobody can crack the 20lb mark in 2 days during the pre-spawn? Plus Byron double blanks and it's his home lake?

Crazay decline for a lake that at one point was ranked in Top 3 in the nation.

Any insight as it looks like I'm going to have to take it off my bucket list.

Thank god I didnt buy property there.

Just cause it shows velvick shows no fish doesn't mean he blanked. Sometimes they have boat problems and can't make it to weigh-in on time. Wish they would say when that happens but they don't.

Can't believe it but if you look at the rayovac open right below it, which would be the Havasu open from last week, the top five weights might actually be better than the top five at Amistad once today's results are in. yep, a mighty fall for amistad, but a lot of the other texas lakes that were producing huge numbers/weights just a few years ago are going through a similar decline and they'll all rebound at some time.... hopefully.

Man, nothing like texas fishing. And I wouldn't necessarily want to live in del rio. I think centex/austin would be a much better choice. You'd be within a 3 to 5 1/2 hour drive of all of these legendary lakes (choke, amistad, falcon, ivie, fork, rayburn/toledo bend) etx.... etx.... etx... not to mention all of those other lakes that are a bit smaller and don't get as much attention and best of all, you'd have lake austin right in your backyard!

The key to bringing all the lakes back, everywhere, is water, like Rich said.
Eisenhower created the interstate highway system.
We need an interstate water system, where water can be pumped from areas of excess to areas of need, in times of plenty.

LOL, that would be the biggest cluster fack ever and the biggest political mess the country has ever seen. Think of the mess CA deals with, now could you image trying to get many states to agree on a system that worked for everybody?

After a little digging I got a little freaked out about safety. Anytime you need to brag how much law enforcement and security you have spells trouble. Not meaning any disrespect but I think we are doing pretty good here in Cali with our lakes and the safety aspect. Just a thought! RR

The one constant with FLMB is boom & bust growth cycles where they are initially introduced.
It's happened at every CA lake, they never comeback to there prime big bass populations.

Just about every winter some *** writes an article saying Clear Lake is on the decline then when February and March roll around 40# bags are weighed.

Are you kidding, we can't even do this in California!! No one can ever agree how much water is needed for the environment.
