Re: 10XD and DD22 combos
Try the Dobyns 805 CB RM for your dd22's and the new 806 CB 10xd rod hands down the two best big crank rods I've thrown!!
Re: 10XD and DD22 combos
Dobyns 806CB 10XD Rod - Best 10XD rod I've thrown also !!!!

Re: 10XD and DD22 combos
I couldn't agree more...I REALLY liked the Dobyns 805CB RM for the 10X crank baits until I fished them on the new 806CB...absolutely money.

Re: 10XD and DD22 combos
The Irod 7113CC "crank launcher" was designed by Fred roumbanis for the 10xd's and other deep cranks. Only $149
Re: 10XD and DD22 combos
The Dobyns 806 CB is also without question the best stick I have found for throwing the Whopper Plopper 130...just saying

Re: 10XD and DD22 combos
Thanks to all who have given their input. Any suggestions on reels? Specifically, what gear ratio do most use for deep cranking? Again, thanks for the info.
Re: 10XD and DD22 combos
That Crank Launcher is the real deal. Its perfect for those deep diving baits.

Give Dennis Papike a call at CalWest Custom fishing rods a call. He can build whatever you want and can figure out what you need. I have his 7'10" cranking rod and it's awesome.
Re: 10XD and DD22 combos
I'm not sponsored by anyone...I have a Loomis 847 and I like it, but it doesn't come close to the Dobyns 805 or 806 when it comes to cranking 10X baits.
Hope that helps.

Re: 10XD and DD22 combos
I believe Ken Mah comes on the board time to time and if I remember correctly he has association with Loomis.ash wrote:Sorry Kiss my Bass no Loomis Sponsored guys on this board so no one will comment BA HA HA - kinda sad really
My rod recommendation is a Dobyns 805cb for the DD22 and similar baits. I haven't thrown the 10xd sized baits enough to make any type of recommendation there.
My favorite reels for moving baits are the Citica and Curado E series (nearly identical to the now Chronarch E).
Hope this helped, and yes, I'm associated with Dobyns.

If you call Dobyns Rods, someone there will actually talk to you about what fits your needs.
Either Richard or Gary are usually there.

Thanks Mark. Much appreciated!!! Also throw Dan Wells on the list at the shop as well. Richard, Dan, and myself love to help with rod choices. Of all the things I do at the shop...this is by far my favorite!!
Our 805 CB RM was made for DD22's . This rod will fish 10XD baits but requires a bit of a swimbait lob type cast. Many guys use it for 10 XD's. I was not happy with it for the bigger baits so I made the 806 CB. It was made specifically for the 10 XD baits. This rod is not a club. It's light, strong, and very similar in feel to the 805 CB.
Thanks to all...give us a yell if you'd like to talk fishing rods!!

Re: 10XD and DD22 combos
Is the 806 overkill for DD22s?? It says it can sling lures between 1/2-2 oz and the DD22 is listed as 5/8 oz.
It seems it would fall within the lure rating but sometimes that isn't the case with rods.

The 806 CB will fish DD 22's well. It has a little extra power but works great. It wouldn't fish baits much smaller very well. The 805 CB can drop down for some of mid-deep divers. If looking for a straight DD 22 rod...I'd recommend the 805 CB. Call if we can help.

Thanks for the reply! Would the 806 work well with 1 oz. lipless crankbaits also?
Thanks again!

Yes, it will easily handle 1oz lipless baits. Also, many of us are using it for our lighter A-Rigs as well. It's awesome for this. Thanks for question!!
