Re: first boat
I keep a small tool bag with a Phillips and flat screw driver. I socket set including one that will fit my spark plugs and prop nut! I keep a small wire brush as well as spare spark plugs. A spare hose clamp, tie straps, electrical tape and fuses! I also keep jumper cables! I keep in the truck a star wrench! Because the luggs on my trailer are different size than my truck! I keep an extra trolling motor pull cord, and I also keep extra trolling motor cables! If I'm fishing outta town I keep a spare prop for bothe the big motor and trolling motor as well! Ill also carry a spare trolling motor when on the road or multiple day tourney! Not all things need to be kept in the boat! Just keep what you will need in the boat to get you back to the ramp and your truck!!

Re: first boat
I just blew a starter a few months back which knocked me out of a tournament. Bought a new starter and was able to have the old one rebuilt for a lot cheaper. So now i have a spare. Also keep an extra solenoid for the starter, easy fix as long as you have the tools.
Re: first boat
Duct tape always have some.. it fixes a lot of things
Re: first boat
Spare connectors and/or leash for your kill switch. Jumper cables.
Re: first boat
I carry a small toolkit, extra switches for my trolling motor pedal, screwdrivers, pliars, allen wrenches, flashlight, extra drain plugs, and a good first aid kit. You will also need to look on the coast guard website to see what items are required to be carried in your boat, like a flag, air horn, life vests, fire extinguisher, throw cushion, rope, etc. Also, make sure you check to see if your navigation lights work, both the bow and the rear light.

Rescue Tape is something new to me but has already come in handy several miles out at sea when a fuel line started leaking from a crack. It saved our butts and probably a $1,000 Vessel Assist towing bill!
I bought a bunch of rolls at the Sac ISE Show last year. They make nice gifts too! Cool stuff!
