Where to take kids fishing in the Bay area?

Post by rickd »

I have a customer that wants to take his kid fishing somewhere in the Bay area. A place where the kids can fish from shore and actually catch something. Small kids like 5-7 years old.

I had him go to Query lakes but they didn't catch a thing. That trout pond down off 101 has closed unfortunatually.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Hey Rickd! I fish the southbay lakes frequently and suggest checking out Calero, Chesbro, or Uvas. All three lakes are within 10-15 minutes of eachother. Calero has boat traffic and can fill up quick/get crowded on hot weekends. Also a $6 parking fee. Uvas and Chesbro are free of charge and have multiple areas to pull off and fish along the road. If you go into Coyote Bait & Tackle on Monterey Highway and talk to them about the crappy and bluegill bite they will give good info and set you up so kids can catch some fish. Calero is 10 minutes tops from the shop. These are also great bass lakes but being that it's been hot the bite has slowed a bit. It's a sure bet draggin a 5" senko(watermellon or greenpumpkin colors) around will get some bass to bite. Hope this helps! Good luck and have fun out there!
