Dobyns?
What dobyns rod should I use for crankbaits on the cali delta. I usually throw 2.5 size to bomber fat free shad. I really want to start useing nice rods and reels, im tired of things breaking.

Re: Dobyns?
The 705 cb is what I use for bds3, rc 2.5, etc. I love the rod, it works great for the Delta. I've caught many good size fish on the river with it and have never had a problem. When I switch to a speed trap or smaller crank I prefer the 704 for casting accuracy. Both are great rods. Call Gary or Richard at the shop, they know the rods inside and out and are more then helpful with the information that you need...

I'm a square bill freak !!!! I fish these things everywhere !!!! Next to a big bait it's my favorite way to catch fish'. I have tried probably a dozen different rods and have found the Dobyns dx 743 c to be the best rod hands down ! Perfect tip for short snap or roll casts but long enough to bomb one across a long point . Great backbone but soft enough so as not to rip the hooks out of a fishes mouth . And I don't get them for free .........

I'm with Cesar on the 705CB. Great rod, especially for the bigger crankbaits.veroscop wrote:I love the 705CB - it was the one that made me fall in love with the line.... and start fishing cranks more. You'll enjoy it!! Cesar
I'm going to get the 704 or the 703 for the little cranks.

Re: Dobyns?
743 will handle both with ease . It sounds like a long rod but believe me when you fish this rod it doesnt feel that big . Story of my life .........

Re: Dobyns?
I have been using the 765cb glass....
here are the specs:
765CB GLASS 7’6″ 1pc. 8-20lb, 1/4-1oz, Med/Hvy Fast Crankbaits, Jerkbaits, Spinnerbaits
I started out using it for blades and topwater. Recently I started to crank more than normal. So one trip I was out on the delta ended up tying on one of those Jackall blings. It's a pretty light little crank bait. I am throwing it on 16lb test sunline natural. with no wind it cast great, with a little wind i can still cast good. the glass gives it a little extra whip in my opinion in flinging out those smaller cranks. The bigger baits like the BDS series are no problem. This rods loads very nice and I never have no worries when it comes to a fish tossing a bait or me ripping my bait out of a fishes mouth.
Topwater wise this rod is freaking awesome to!! it will load and launch a spook a super long distance, the action in the rods give me the perfect snap i need in working my spook fast, slow, agressive, you name it!!!
Give this rod a try, you will not regret it!
