I have a Elite 5X, DSI that I snapped the transducer cable in half. I will eventually replace it with a new transducer, but I want to use the boat this weekend. Has anyone successfully repaired their cable? There are 4,insulated wires inside the cable. There's also 1, braided, stainless steel wire, with no insulation. The 4 insulated wires are paired up into 2s, then wrapped/shrouded in a foil, or mylar looking wrapper. I'm sure I can splice all the wires, and re wrap them with the foil material, but I am not so sure the unit will work properly after the repair. Being I have very little spare time to attempt it, I hope someone can say yes or no, and save me some wasted time.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Transducer Cable
Well, it can't hurt to try right? Either you are going to go get a new transducer for this weekend or you'll try to splice what you have. I can tell you I've heard of people splicing transducer cables and it works fine. Just be sure everything that is currently shielded remains shielded and it should work.
