Carbon monoxide sticker

Post by Steve »

I know we talked about this before, but I didnt pay any attention :(

Am I required by law to place that silly sticker on my boat? It seems to me that it is voluntary.

For our protection, our great state officials have made in a law and you will have to have them on your boat. If they check you out and it is not there they will cite. California just gets better and better. Bill K

I didn't even look twice at mine before they went into the round file. I'll probably catch some hell for it later, but that's later. Carpe Diem!

Your Tax Dollars At work, Folks....

Post by Ken C. »

Let me ask this - What happens when an out of state angler brings his boat (and his $$) into our great state for a tournament??? (I know, I know - mo money, MO Money!)

Only in California do we try to Legislate Darwin's Theory of Evolution (and/or the Darwin Awards!). I feel that every person should have the freedom to remove themselves from the gene pool in whatever manner they feel is appropriate - It's a freedom of speech kinda thing  !

In all seriousness, I've placed mine in a storage compartment so that if I get checked and cited, I'll fight it in court since it was "in" my boat... And to think these people get paid for this stuff!

Ohh don't doubt that those stickers will be a pain for someone in some tournament someday. Since all boats have to "conform" to state regulations etc... I think if you tournament fish you really don't have a choice. It would be a heck of a dumb thing to get protested for and get DQ'd for. (Although anyone protesting you would be a numbnut) They are on my boat and ugly as sin.

You got that right. When I went to the DMV and asked they looked at me like I was the dumb one. I've been stopped twice by the police boat around Frank's the last month and neither time did they ask if I had the carbon sticker, I put the thing by my console but have not done the one on the back of the boat.

I only have two problems with the stickers:

1. Both of the boats shown on the example have a swim deck attached to the back of the boat.

2. I read the attached literature and could not find anywhere that it states that its the law to stick these on your boat.

But I did not READ and MEMORIZE the state boating and waterway laws.

CALIFORNIA LAW REQUIRES, REQUIRES OWNER OF VESSLE TO PLACE IN A LOCATION THAT IS IMMEDIATELY VISIBLE TO THE VESSEL OPERATOR FOR ONE AND FACING OUT ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE STERN OR TRANSOM FOR THE OTHER.

WE FOUND THAT IT DID NOT DAMAGE TO OUR FIBERGLASS HULL OR GELCOAT INSIDE THE OPERATORS AREA. SO WE PUT OUR DECALS ON. WHAT THE HECK IS ALL THE SCUDDLE ABOUT, THEIR FREE AND IT IS THE LAW. I DOUBT THAT IT IS PUNISHABLE BY DEATH, BUT HAY IT WOULD BE CENTURIES BEFORE THEY PUT YOU TO DEATH IN CALIF ANYWAY !!!!!!!!!!

It is stupid. I stuck them on. Every camper shell sold in the state should get one as well for the kids that get poisoned to death in the back. (Nevermind they do not have restraints in the cargo hold.)

"We thought they were sleeping."

The attorneys are the ones causing all of this B.S.

I will be sure to remind all of the wakeboarders I am towing of potential inhalation hazards.
