I have several Stradic H's and one Stradic MgFB (The latest Mg version) I think the Stradic 2500 is a good value. The MgFB was over $2 bills and I do not plan on spending more then $175 on a spinning reel in the future.

One of my co-workers just bought one. At least I think it was that model shimano. I will be fishing with him on Friday, and will let you know what he thinks of it. I will probably throw it a few times to get a feel for it also.

Good solid reel for the price. ive heard from some they arent as smooth as the previous generation due to harder more durable gears. I personally think they're fine. Been fishing the 1500 hard for a year and have no complaints.

My take is i dont need a spinning reel to be liquid smooth or tricked out with 10+ bearings... just have a solid drag and be able to stand up to some abuse.

Ron,

My buddy just used his for the first time Friday at Castaic. He didn't catch any fish with it, but he did say it was a really smooth reel, and he definitely used it a lot. He was very happy with his, and has absolutely no remorse about the money he spent on it. For what it's worth.

I hear ya there. Although, I still never throw a spinning rod on the delta. I might go down to 8lb on a baitcaster but I dont have the stomach for that 6lb with all the grass. Hope you are doin well. Take care.

i have two shimano stradics fi 3000 the gears ratio works for me the drag is awesome the reel is smooth a little noisy but my problems with both reels is the bail it sticks and more than not fails to recoil back causing many problems i often spend too much time messing with my reel instead of concentrating on my retrieve i called shimano they said send it in they will look at it only five weeks for repair i don't know about you guys but five weeks without my reels is a long time
