butch brown

Post by kane-o »

i saw a video today with butch fishing the lagoon just 3 days ago, and i think some of the texas boys were doubting his 65lb sack, so he had another 50+ lb. sack to show them... cant get the video to load ? but he said he has caught over 1500 bass over 10lbs, and has had a 65+ lb. sack 6 times and a 50+ sack over 35 times... he owns that place, :? im trying to get the video to play ??

I can still access his youtube videos through the swimbait forum. Are those the same videos you're talking about?

mark, the video butch removed was just shot on the 3rd of march 2011, he made a comment that the texas boys on the texas bass forum's were doubting his 65lb bag, so he wanted to post up a new video for them... he had 50+ from the lagoon on that day... not sure why he removed it. ? but my guess is he does not want 50 boats on the lagoon right now after seeing the video.... the video on the swimbait section is from 2010..... he said he has caught a bag over 65+ lbs 6 times, and has over 1500 bass over 10 lbs to his credit..... and has had 65 sacks of fish over 50 lbs... he is a master of the lagoon and fishing his hudds

"the whale that surfaces can get harpooned"
Unless you are trying to promote a product there isn't an upside to announcing to the world your big bass success. Butch Brown is promoting Huddleston swimbaits.
60+ lb 5 lmb limits are extremely rare outside of California and bass anglers will question it. I only know of one 72 lb, 5 LMB limit caught in California back when wire linning hand painted CD18 Rapala's in San V was popular.
The bait fisherman caught lots of 50 to 60 lb limits from both Castaic and Casitas during the late 80's to early 90's. The fact that Butch has caught serveral big bass limits should not surprise anyone who knows him.

Why post anything at all? He is with out a dout one of the best with a Hud ....but it is obvious where he is doing it and when (NOW) the right time is to do it. Hell yeah, there are going to be 50 boats there looking for the same success now. I know of people that don't realize that it(the water in question) is basicly an over sized pond. But heck they are going to tow thier 20 foot ranger down from way up north just for the chance at a day like that.
Sure you may sell a couple of Hud's, but you are going to get 50 plus fishing there on the weekends in the next couple of months.

It doesnt matter how many boats show up, their not going to have the success that butch has. He has that place down to a science. Great job butch. :D

It seems like all of our lakes in So Cal are too small to share info on where or how you caught them. The internet has become only good for promoting product and announcing tournaments and results. The reports page on this site is empty. I do try to help out anglers who ask questions on how to fish a bait that I have success with. Oh well, we can all stare at the pretty advertising while we are waiting for results!

Bass anglers in general are a tight lip bunch fearing someone might catch their bass. When money is on the line, like in tournaments; "secrets" reach the level of paranoia.
Anyone who know me will tell you that I will share knowledge about what is working and how to present the lure. Just don't ask me to divulge the location. Most trophy bass anglers are willing to share knowledge knowing few anglers have the dedication or are willing to put in the time to consistanly catch big bass.
The difference with Butch is everyone knows where he is fishing and he openly shares his techniques.

You are right Tom. I fish DVL about once a week and mentioning the word tournament causes muteness among DVL anglers. I caught a big bag to win a night time team tournament last summer and even most of my tournament friends didn't ask me how I caught them. Team Tournament fishing has gotten way intense. No wonder Butch keeps his fishing a bit more simple.

It's not that simple. I get more tired, even sore at times fishing for Big bass then I ever did doing a tourney.
It takes dedication. You wont do that good just tossing big baits all over. That's luck and guessing.

50 and 60 lb limits don't come from guessing or luck. Ok some luck (the luck that they feed or bite) but that luck goes for ALL fishing.

Go BUTCH!! I hope to see a 70+ limit soon. :D

I'm not promoting anything. I don't get paid and have never been paid by anybody in the fishing industry. I do have well over 200 videos of catches exceeding ten pounds and at least 50 teeners on tape. Someday when i'm ready I will have the best reality video of catching giant bass that anybody can produce. It just takes money to make it happen. The only reason that i'm posting a few videos is because my son talked me into getting a new computer and i'm just playing around. As for Texas, they P.O. me off. HAHA!
