Since you said "Flippin" jigs, that narrows things quite a bit. Sounds like your talking flipping jigs near wood, tules, etc.

I prefer an arky style jig head, usually with a weed guard, with a rubber skirt and a really big sharp stout hook. I like 1/2 ounce, but sometimes I'll go 3/8 if I'm pitchin into rock and getting hung up too much. Sometimes I'll go 1/4 ounce "finesse", but not often for my personal tastes.

In cold water I stick with pork trailers, plastic for warmer water.

Jig Choices...

When pitching and flippen jigs I do prefer the arkie head style jigs, round rubber skirts, #4 jig hook and a thin diameter stranded weed gaurd.

I've always had mine hand tied to git exactly what I want in my jigs. There are now a number of jigs available that will work. Exclusively at the Hook, you can git the Bobby D's Jig, excellent jig with a big hook and attached rattle. Rodstrainer has also begun to make a round rubber Arkie head jig. Also, B&T Baits 209-538-9086 makes a great jig. Fish-On Jigs and Skinny Bear also make an excellent flippen jig, Bob's at Limit Out carries these two brands.
