Chatterbait trailers

Need some input on some chatterbait trailers. havent really thrown them much but decided to give em more of a chance than i have in the past, what are some favorites? thanks in advance

I like to use 4 inch Yamamoto Kut Tail worms. My favorite is the laminated red/black with silver (color 922).

Most of the time I like to use Robo Worm 5 inch paddletail swimbaits in both the freshwater and ocean version...but if you want to try something a little different put on a Mann's HardNose Swim Toad. Excellent choice if you want to slow-roll your chatterbait above, around and thru weeds. The movement of the legs of the Swim Toad give the bait lift along with great action and allows you to work the bait very slowly compared to other trailer choices.

For blue gill & breem patterns I have been using the Yamamoto Swimmin Senko, for the Sexy shad or white patterns the Hyper Striper tails from http://www.kgenterprise.com

I love using a Yamamoto swimming senko and still use them........it adds that little extra weight I NEED to keep that chatterbait swimming through the grass. If i use a trailer that is not induced with all the extra salt i feel like it fishes a little to light and not deep enough. Plus that swimming senko's weight will help in acheiving a better cast.

Next year, 2011 I will be trying something new, the colors look awesome but lets see if it catches the fish like it caught my wallet. I am going to give "Big Bite Baits 5 inch Rojas Cane Thumper" a try..... They look pretty promising..........

But overall, tried and true the Yamamoto Swimming senko is a must, especaily on the Delta!!!!! O I forgot, Reaction Inovation Skinny Dipper to.. Bobby Barrack got me on those as a trailer.. They work quite well to.

Now in reguards of Chatterbaits, I think Z-man Chatterbaits, the originals..SUCK!!!>>> I use every other chatter style baits but those. They break. If you get a striper on by accident or on purpose, that bait may last only one fish or two the most!! Don't get caught throwing that think or your heart will be broken!!

I use the swiming fluke, baby brush hog when I want a more compact bait, full size brush hog and 10" power worm when I want a bulky bait.

I pretty much only use Reaction innovations skinny dipper, all the colors that work and just the rite amount of action.

What ever works for the color and bait they are eating at that time - as it is changing almost bi-weekly now.


The mainstay is a BrushHog - Take a razor to it and slice the appendages upwards for more action than stock.

I've always just used the z-man chatterbaits and the trailers that come with them, but I've been disappointed in the quality. Lately I've been playing with the Bassgrabber Drop Shad. It's a smaller bait that profiles a baitfish really well and the thin tail really gets moving. Plus it's something the fish haven't seen yet.
