New forum style

Post by Bill K »

I like it, not the smartest on computers, but will learn to cruise the site.. Maybe this will aid and/or stop the people that can not control their stupidity. Thank you Gator and staff. Bill K :D

All forums were transferred to the new format, so there is no need to leave access to the old forums.

Me I don't care, I am just happy to have great folks like Tony and Gator that put in the time so we all have a place to play.. Thanks guys..

Most folks don't like change cause they either have to learn something over again and or leaves room for misstake on their part and people don't like to make misstakes in general. So there wil be alot of bitching for a while..

Changes for us old guys ...?? would be great if there was more color contrast between posts and have the advatar on he left rather than the right.. myself I look for authors via their advatar of the post before I read them not afterwaters.. but that's just me...

The banners flashing and jumping around is alittle frustrating though... but I understand your sells advertisement!

I like the friend or foe idea

carry on boys great jobs..

It ok, a little confusing at first.

Gator, I think you sent me a link on how to make the font a little more bold, I lost it.

Figured out my monitor was tilted down too far making the font lighter and tougher to read.

Go back to having the type flush left. Centering makes long posts difficult to read.

Not a fan of the new look at all, especially with the distracting animated gifs on the sides. The object is to get people to read the member generated content, not draw their attention away from it. Or is it?

I think the alternate layout is MUCH better: Alternate westernbass.com Layout

It is left-justified now. Funny. Tuna said the same thing. Maybe send a screen shot to Gator so he can see what you're seeing. So much of this stuff varies from screen to screen, computer to computer.

I just retired and have more time on my hands BUT I find myself looking at other sites more and this one less because the blinking seems to give me a headache.

Okay, so we've either slowed most ads WAY down or we've converted them to static ads.
There are two ads out on our control, WFN and Trokar. We're working with the client to get new ads to replace those.

Again, if you are seeing rapidly changing ads you need to clear your computer's cache and refresh your browser to see these ads as they are running now.

When I clicked on a link with lead to an older forum page (for a reference) that lead to a page that no longer existed.

My initial thoughts on this new forum style are:

1) I think those who place adds (sponsors) are not likely to get a equal amount of exposure; at least those that are third, fourth, etc., simply because human nature catches the first one pretty well but the following adds are just blurs (or ignored), at least to me. in this regard, I agree with an earlier post that suggests that the forum threads should be focused on message content. If retained, however, I would suggest cycling (or promoting) the adds to give others a "top" spot would be useful for each of them. Just my opinion; Note I am not a sponsor (but big fan) of this site.

2) The width of the reading zone has been narrowed. I think I can get use to it but I did enjoy the larger area of the previous version of the forum.

3) Thanks for taking into consideration the users opinions of this outstanding forum.
