Power Trim is not working very good what could it be????

The power trim on my 225 Opti-max sounds like if it has very little power going to it. when I trim up the trim motor sounds bogged down like if I have a dead battery and sounds the same when I trim down but just before it bottoms out, it sound normal.

what could it be?? I checked the relays but they seem ok, maybe its a bad Ground, but I don't know where to check it.. I'm on a tight budget so its hard for me to take it to the shop because it seems no matter what I take my boat in for these days , its always over $300. I'm not rich like some of you people and I don't have that kind of cash right now..so can anyone please help me out on what to do?? thanks guys

Could be the brushes in the motor had a older boat that had the same problems ground down old vw starter brushes and solved the problem. My 02 had had the same problems a coule months ago I bought a after market motor off e-bay for a little over $100.00.

Does it go one way and not the other. If so, it is the switchs in the engine. They are easy to replace and about 15 bucks per unit. Replace both if so as one is for up and one is for down.

I'd trace all the wiring, clean all connections and replace all connectors, make sure they're water tight.
And it definitely could also be brushes on the motor. Can you unscrew the brushes and check for wear?
Also, if you can remove the motor, remove the brushes, get a can of electrical parts cleaner (spray can like carb cleaner), squirt out the inside thru the brush openings til it pours out clean and then blow it out with an airgun (wear eye protection, this **** stings).
Most motors in just about any application are just off the shelf motors and the brushes can easily be ordered online.
Get the brand, model and seriel number off the number and order the brushes from newark.com or mcmaster.com. They're really cheap, most are under $10.
Also check fluid level.
