Ironman style day/night tournament on Sat, July 31

Post by Brian Linehan »

Hey guys,

I have the seconf of three night tournaments this Saturday, July 10 at DVL. I'll be there at 4 and the tournament will be from 8pm-2am.

However, the last WON BASS night tournament of the year will be on Saturday, July 31 and will feature an Ironman style format. The event will feature a split weigh in.

The day bite at DVL has been insane lately and we thought it would be fun to take advantage of the best bite in So Cal right now during the day and top it off with a classic night duel.

The first segment of the tournament will start at 12:00 noon and first flights will be in at 6:00 pm. The second segment will last from 8:00 pm until 2:00 am.

The first segment will feature a 2 fish limit and the second segment a 3 fish limit. The total weights from both segments will be combined.

The cost of the tournament is exactly the same as all WON BASS night tournaments.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to call or email anytime.

Thanks,
Brian

Sounds like fun Brian.. Lets get this straight... for the price of a normal 6 hour tournament we get to go out and fish 6 hours, weigh in and then RELAUNCH and blast off for another 6 hours??? 2 fish limit for the 1st 6 hours and 3 fish limit for the 2nd 6 hours???

Count me and Guy in!!! Sounds like a blast!!!

Pretty cool concept bro...

Yeah, 12 hours on the lake is always better than 6! Unless it's January, 45 degrees, and blowing 25 mph!

Hey Guys,

Glad to see things came together for this final event, between our DFG permits and the MWD allowing us to do this type of format. The event should be a blast, as I have heard and unfortunately not seen, how good the afternoon bite has been. We are working very hard in the office and with our TD's, to create and come up with some unique and angler friendly tournament formats. This one event is just the beginning of what we have in store for the upcoming year, and years to come. I wish I could make the event tonight myself, but with the upcoming ICAST show, and the BIG SHOW......2010 US Open, I just have to much on my plate, and need to spend some time with my little one's.

I will definitely see you guys at the July 31st event, as this one is one of those can't miss events. Good luck to all the guys that are fishing tonight, and be safe out there.

Brian will we have access to a power supply to charge our batteries, never tested my batteries for a 12 hour session especially if its windy. Being able to to off my batteries for the second half would be ideal......

No, there won't be any generators out there. 12 hours is no problem at DVL provided you have good batteries. It would be one thing if we were talking 12 hours of power fishing at Mead or something, but it won't be a problem at DVL.

Besides, by the time the fist segment weighs in is over which will realistically be around 6:45 pm, you'd only have about 30 minutes to charge anyway since we'll be launching for segment 2 around 7:20.

I hope it blows 40mph and is 115 degrees. Oh wait, that's Lake Mead not DVL. Your batteries will be fine. At most you'll have to buy new one's after the tourney when you find out they are not as good as you would like.

As far as fees, the basic entry is $155.

How about a $15 big fish pot for the first segment and $15 big fish pot for the night segment? Pays one spot per segment.

In addition, a $50 "Top 5" option for the first segment and $50 "Top 5" option for the second segment. Pays to the top 5 teams entered in the option for each segment.

Last, a $20 "Winner Takes All" option to the team with the highest accumulated overall weight. Pays one spot.

The basic entry will be a 1 in 5 payback for the heaviest accumulated weight for segments 1 and 2.

This payback arrangement will really spread the money because in essence, this tournament will be run like two tournaments in one. A team can do poorly in the first segment and still have a shot to win segment #2 option money and vice versa.

In addition to the money, several WON BASS sponsors are donating various items such as rods, reels, glasses, etc.

What do you guys think?

Don't forget, we'll be launching around 11:40 am and the first segment blast off is slated for Noon. First segment weigh in is starting at 6pm. Once everyone weighs, we'll have about 45 minutes before we launch again for the night segment which should start around 8pm and start weighin in at 2:00am.

Make sure your boats are dry. I addition to clean livewells, lower your engine and drain all water before you leave for the lake. Also, open your battery compartment and check for water near the bilge pumps. DON'T GET ICE BEFORE YOU GET TO LAKE!!! You will fail! Last, jam your finger in the drain plug to make sure no water exists.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Hey guys-

At the Ironman event, we're going to have a check in boat at both weigh-ins. The boat will be on the East side of the attenuator and it's mandatory that each boat checks in during their assigned flight cut off.

I've noticed in all of the nights tournaments this year that people are coming in late. Perhaps the teams that are still on the lake while the flight cut off time is over aren't weighing in fish.

Therefore, I'm making it mandatory that every team checks in before their assigned flight cut off.

Additional details coming soon...

Thanks,
Brian
