Shasta - Where to stay & launch?

Hey all -

I am going to Redding for a trade show this Thursday, and was going to come up mid day Wednesday, fish till dark, pull out, fish sunrise till 9:00 am Thursday, and do my trade show.

Anyone stayed at Bridge Bay, or someplace close to or on the lake recently? Cost? Accomodations? I'd appreciate any hotel/launch advice, as well as how the fishing has been with the full lake.

The Shasta Dam Motel (530-275-1065) is a good place to stay. It's about 10 minutes from Bridge Bay for launching and about 10 minutes back into Redding. Not sure how much launching is at BB anymore since I buy a season pass. Expect 10 - 15 dollars.

Shasta dam hotel is ok, but be warned that it can be a bit too noisy being so close to Rt 5. The advantage of Shasta Dam is that you can park your boat near your room. Motel 6 (North) or Ramada Inn are decent choices, but the former only really offers close parking to the room. I found these other hotels to be quieter than the dam hotel.

Best of luck. The lake is spectacular this year. Just need some heat.

I reccomend Fawndale Lodge by far and Packers Bay to launch bridge bay is 15$.. a big spawn is yet to come Shasta is is late to turn on like the others the best is yet to come it is hard to read the lake because it is FULL..

Fawndale.....done. 1 mile to Bridge Bay, park your boat in front of your room, BBQ in front of your room if ya wish, just a very cool place and no thieves around. Exit Fawndale road off 1-5. I've stayed there many times over the last 15 years. always great.

Not to sure about hotels But Bridge bay is great beware on big holiday weekends they sometimes do not allow launching except for pass holders due to parking limitations. Packers has a ton of room. I fished a small tourney out of baileys launch lots of room there also. The fish are on the verge of flopping but the bite is still unreal MF Hawg Stix Green Pumpkin or Baby Bass and Green Pumpkin tubes caught a ton of fish yesterday. Topwater was still not quite there. Have fun watch for TREES floating by
