Sufix or power pro braid
Re: Sufix or power pro braid
The major diff between the 2 is that suffix is a soft braid or braided kind of like a tube "it is soft if you run your fingers down it" so in turn it has no cutting edges!!
power pro on the other hand is by far my fav do to the fact that is braided like a rope it has bumps "per say" that give the line cutting edges to make it easier to cut hydrilla and such. I found they both have great castability and strength but when it comes down to it I use two brands for braid power pro for frogs and punching then I'll go to Izorline braid white for paddle tails and spinnerbaits when needed, easy on the wallet and I like the izorline cuz its invisable in water.

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.

Re: Sufix or power pro braid
I've used both.... a lot..... I think PowerPro is a very good product but I like Suffix a little more... Suffix also costs more so there's the trade off...
Suffix stays rounder in form so it handles better, casts more like mono, doesn't seem to dig into itself as much on a hard hookset or snag, it doesn't fray as much when cut, and you won't have that powdery residue coating all over your reels like when you use PowerPro. I noticed a lot of times with PowerPro there would be a clump or build up of the coating in 1 or 2 spots every time I spooled up....never with Suffix
On the other side, PowerPro is cheaper and available almost everywhere. I haven't noticed any issues such as one product lasting longer or having more or less failures than the other,, so I'm confident using both and I still have a few set ups with PowerPro on them

Hey D....u comin' over to the "no stretch" side ? I thought u hated that stuff !
Gotta go with Power Pro ! Keeps the spinnerbaits / chatterbaits from getting swallowed !

Power Pro white. Hard to get. 65lb for flip/pitch and 50lb for frogs. I take a marks a lot permanent marker in the color of choice (usually black) and color the last 4 feet. The white is easy to see. Hi vis yellow can be seen but can't be colored. Power pro is very manageable, never digs in hook sets, and cuts through the salad. Never a breakoff.

I really like the Power Pro Hi-vis yellow and it can be colored, it just isn't easy to do!!

I believe it is the Rapala brand that has a new superline coming out that is made with Goretex. They were saying on bassfan.com a few days ago that it is going to revolutionize the superline business because it is stronger and better handling. Companies have said this over and over, but nothing seems to work as well as Power Pro!
Re: Sufix or power pro braid
I preferthe suffix, lays better on the spool and better abrasion resitance. Tackle tour did a write up on braided lines a while back. The main difference between power pro and suffix is the amount of carriers in the line (individual strands that create the braid). For any thing over 50lb test suffix has 8 carriers, allowing for a more round braid. While powerpro only has 4 carriers in all its lb test I believe.
