ABA CL TOC 5FT rollers

Post by bahlzar »

We came in about 1 hr early and took a few over the bow. Pulled the boat out of the water about 1:15 and it looked like it was getting worse out there and not better..... Anyone have any 5ft roller stories?

E ticket ride for sure... suffice it to say it was way too slow going.

No waves over the bow of my boat, I was in a Champion.

Saw many boats going real slow riding those waves on the way in around 1:30 PM. Ran straight into the waves then quartered to get accross to the other side. Ride was awesome if you like rough water. You have to love a Champion's ride.

I had a blast fishing plus add the wind which made it another life long memory at Clear Lake.

Lake was fishing real small already then add the wind which made the lake fish even smaller.

I love you Miss Clear Lake and hate you as well.

ABA did a great job at running this event.

Huh? I never met anyone who likes rough water... ask the crabbers in the berring sea; would you rather fish calm or 30 foot waves?

Rich,

we aint in the berring sea but I don't mind rough water, if you know how to safely and properly run it, your ahead of the game. Many won't and can't make a long run in nasty conditions. bring on the wind and rollers!

Dude, your favorite pond "MEAD" reminds me of the berring sea :)

I just got humbled out there on the water too many times... hope things are going good my friend!

I wouldnt say that they were 5'ers BUT in a 19' boat they were a bit bigger than whats fun for me esp. going through the narrows.......We found a spot that was calm in jago and the fish were feeding on bait that was pushed in from the wind BUT what was really fun was watching the boats go from flat water and hitting the first set of waves. Can you say "lift off".
Hope everyone came in safe ABA put on a great show imho.

Story? Yeah. 09' ABA Championship. My tourny partner and I sank his 18 foot skeeter. 6'+ rollers. First time at mead. I hate it already. Screwed me up mentally but i'm still alive. Can't wait to go back. lol That will be in a 20+ footer though. haha

I just returned from cl and those waves were no where near 5 foot.
It still hurts my brain, wondering why people can turn 3 feet into 5 feet or a 3lber into a 5 lber.
But it was,windy,bluebird and cold.
My hats off to anybody that got a good sack on sat.
Those guys are good fisherman and way better than I am.

I don't want to here any scary rough water stories. You were in my boat, don't tell about how many times the prop came out. I don't want to know.

It was nasty out there BUT what i dont get is both fri and sat the weather channel had it at 6mph on fri............ and max 3mph on sat. Id say it got up to 8mph by 2pm sat for sure.
I just wish they could get close esp under our situation.
BE SAFE AND PRACTICE DRIVING UNDER ROUGH CONDITIONS when the water temps are warmer!!!!!!!!
