I love it recessed!
Re: to recess, or not to recess
If you're thinking about cutting a hole in the deck, drainage would be a concern for me, as well as debris and other unwanted objects that could possibly get stuck in the recession. If you are concerned about getting a bad back or knee, it would seem that you would be using opposite force with the same amount of pressure on your ankle and back by pressing downward on your heel. I've found that if you switch legs every so often, you won't stress out your dominant leg.

Wouldn't consider not having one, you'll feel so much better after a day of fishing. It's a more natural position to be in.
I couldn't go back.

Re: to recess, or not to recess
I did mine last year-Wish I would of done it sooner. I can't think of nor have a I read a reason not to.
Drainage/Debris? I go 4 wheelin in the boat when need be. If you keep the drain hole in the pan clear there are no issues.
I went out last week in a friends new boat. I almost tripped over the pedal
. My back hasn't bothered me since I put the pan in my boat. My back was screaming for a couple days after one day of fishing. I guess that could of been because we hit a few whitecaps in a Z boat

Re: to recess, or not to recess
Mike & others who have a recessed pedal, here is my question:
With the pedal being flat to the deck, how can you then get your control foot to tilt backwards against your heel?
With my leg slightly raised, i can make the front and back motion, but once my foot is parallel to the ground (deck) i can't seem to get the feel for pushing my heel backwards. I've tried some of my friends boats who have it, and found it really awkward, but i have never run it all day. i just have mine ol' school.
I totally see the up side when you got the pedal flat and going straight.
Please enlighten us

I guess im the only one, I hate it, harder to turn the t motor, every corporate ergonomics program says if your gona stand all day rest a foot higher than the other, + the basscat recess is way to far forward and Im stuck with that location. oh yea my heal is allways getting stuck on the deck to,

Re: Recessed all day.
Hey kopper let me light the way...
It seemed awkward at first and having run others boats for short periods of time, I wasn't sure if the advantages were worth cutting a hole in the deck. I find I can put more of my body weight on the pedal and stand more upright, keeping my back stretched throughout the course of the day. I usually stand all day and only put the seat in if the wind is really going.
The pedal's not completely flush with the top of the deck, so there's plenty of room to manipulate the pedal.
I know for sure, after using a raised pedal for a good portion of the day, I'm glad I did it.
What ever floats your boat

Re: to recess, or not to recess
I have had one on my Jaguar for almost 10 years now. In my opinion it is much better than with out. I have had O problems with a foot sticking. Like anything new you get used to the difference. Then when you try the old way that seems more awkward. Kinda like that Power Pole item. . .
