XTOOLS GripNweigh Digital Scale

Post by Micropterus salmoides »

O.K. I really need to get a scale. I keep putting it off, buying other tackle instead, but I'm tired of guesstimating fish weight. How good is the XTOOLS GripNweigh? Is it good for weighing 5lb plus fish? Long lasting?

Yes, yes, yes. I've got one, along with a Cull-M-Rite, and it works great. Easy to use, durable, and pretty accurate. When I got my first 7 pounder a couple of years ago at DVL, it weighed 7.71 on the XTools and 7.69 on the scale in the marina.

As with everything....there's pros and cons. I have one of these and used it for awhile. It failed me numerous times however, due to the money I paid for it I kept using it. It kept screwing up during the culling process. I changed the batteries numerous time thinking maybe that was it. Nope. Aslo the screen on my tool faded and was hard to read at times during sunny days.

I still have my tool if anyone wants to throw me a few bucks for it they can have it. After discussing this before on this web......I switched to using a simple scale for weighing just the big fish (which is rare lately....lol) and balance beaming everything else.
