Re: spinnerbait rod fast or extrafast
My preference is for extra fast rods when throwing spinner baits. I almost exclusively toss 1/2 oz baits and use a Loomis SBR812C. I really like the rod but it lacks hook-setting power from far away. If I am making long casts on flats or over grass I use a Powell MH EF 703C.
Hope this helps.

I have the Dobyn's 734c and it works great for spinnerbaits. It has plenty of backbone and enough tip to feel the blades spinning. It is a great all around rod that could be used for paddletail swimbaits or frogs, as well as chatterbaits. Check one out, you won't be disappointed. It is one of my go to rods and is always on my deck.

George there are two different rods I would Recomend. Some guys like a composit others like Graphite. The first is a composit rod from Phenix, The Very Popular X10. The second is the Ultra MBX700ML

Dobyns 734C is all I use, I build spinnerbaits, test them and sell them and all fished on my 734C..
Re: spinnerbait rod fast or extrafast
I'm also good with the Dobyns 734C. I've been using it for about a year to throw spinnerbaits, topwater and small paddletail swimbaits and I'm really happy with it.

The G Loomis Spinnerbait series is awesome. Just pick the one or two for your tastes.
Versatility is a plus as jerk baits, some top waters and even a crankbait will fit well with their capabilities----a real plus when the situation doesn't allow carrying every rod you desire.
