Comanche Launching

Post by ash »

FBT has a club tournament out at Comanche early in Jan. I was speaking to mr Dean last night and he said the north shore launch ramp is a dirt road and the trailer tires are falling off the back side.

So my question is, if that is the case would the south ramp have enough luanch ramp to launch from and will the parking hold 15 rigs?

Also too, with this rain do you think its enough to get that ramp where it needs to be.

use the south shore low water ramp. parking is limited but certaily will hold 20 rigs.
the ramp is steep and a long ways down but good condition.
you should not have a problem with it.

be prepared to see all your fishing spots high and dry. will need to find new spots.

ash - south side has a nice triple ramp w/lots of parking. some good fishing right to the south of the ramp if the water is high enough to cover those trees <cough>big flat with nice dropoff into a creek channel nearby - green pumpkin spider grub on a 1/2 oz football head, drag, drag, drag<cough>

thats all good information except that right now the triple wide ramp is high and dry. you can walk staight down the ramp and contiue walking down to the dry camamche creek and right up onto the hill side.
those trees you speak of are no where near water right now. closest water is about 500 yards away or more

you have to drive over to chevron point and lauch at the low water ramp. All the submergerd islands off chevron point are 40-50 feet above water. last week I was looking up at the tops of the islands where I normal catch fish.
the bite is still pretty good. There was even a top water bite in the morning. Alot of surface activity right now as I think the lake turned over.
that was 2 weekends ago however.

basicly the only water in the lake right now is the molkume river.
all the falts are high and dry.

AWSOME time to go look at structre and the bite is not all that bad either.
The water level has not been this low since the drought of 1988.

You say the tree line to the south of the ramp? if you mean lauch your boat and turn left towards the rv camping that area is dry as a BONE. That entire bay is dry.

wow, might have to go over and take a look at the stuff I've always wondered about near the dams. I've seen old handdrawn maps of the area prior to flooding -- staircases, cemeteries, tailings, etc

/me goes to grab GPS and look at calendar for open date...

Rich,

Where did you launch out of? North Shore or South Shore?

Thanks,

Anybody willing to give up the location of the old cementary? I wanted to take a couple pics tomorrow when I am out scouting for an upcoming club tournament. I have a map but know cementary shown.

FYI - Launched out of South Shore today. Ramp is still covered in sand. Be very careful, I would use 4X4 if you have it. I do not, but was able to pull out very, very, very slowly. If there is a lot of boat traffic it will get real slippery, real quick.

Lugnut,

were you able to find your cemetery? We launched out of the North end HUG the dock, I guess they had three trucks get stuck on Sunday.

Fished out of north shore today and had no problem at all launching and didn't spin a tire. Stay next to the dock and there is no problem, but there is some sand on the outer lane. You don't even need to get the truck tires off the pavment to go in or out with a 393v.

ash, I did not find it. Looked for a little while but then had to concentrate on finding some water for my upcoming club tournament. Looks like I might need to head back to find both....lol not a real good catching day, but atleast the weather was pretty nice.
