Post by Ray L. »

Jeff A. did not win the Mercury Cup.I don't know how he lost it.He had a 60 point lead on 2nd. place. What the heck happened.
Also where are the results.I was sticking up for won but now you are loosing me.

..according to the guy I spoke to, WON took the top 6 guys and zeroed their weights and said go get 'em. Whomever finishes higher gets the award. I bet Jim Tatum is nun too happy right now.. Had he known that I'm sure he would have shown for the Classic. Jeff did not win the award...so much for working all season only to have it thrown out and up for grabs....

What!!!!!!!You have got to be kidding.Did they do that for the Daiwa cup also????
All that hard work thrown down the drain.I am sorry to hear this Jeff.We are friends and I feel for you buddy.
Why was this not said at the begining of the season?
Jeff I still say you won it eventhough they took it from you.
Congrats on a great season eventhough it is now tainted!!!!!!!

they changed the system at the pre-dinner. My Buddy Jeff A was a wreck, had a 37 point lead and they took it away from him. they took the top 6 and mad them start at 0. Jim T. didnt even show up, im guessing because he thought it was over. And also they didnt bring the angler of the year award for jeff A, said they would mail it.
didnt even say his name.

Jeff did a awesome job and ill still say good job, show them theres a pro side to you now. get em good buddy.

I dont know how WON can justify zeroing the points going into the championship event. Why do they even award points for the season if they are just going to zero them for the last event?

Thanks for the support guys. I still can't believe it either. I can sum it up in two words...BAD DEAL !! No more fishin' from the back seat for me.
Good for Ken W. he was the lucky recipient of the top prize that used to be awarded to the angler with the best overall performance throughout the entire year based on year end points after the Classic was added in. He had a good tournament at the Open/Classic this time. Congrats Ken, no hard feelings towards you & I told him this last night.
Points don't seem to count at WON anymore. It now seems they are only used to determine who get's to "spin the wheel of fortune" at years end. Have a so-so season & it could be you !! Do outstanding the entire year & "do to unforseen circumstances" you lose!! This is one I will never forget!!
Hopefully I will receive my A.O.Y trophy in the mail soon like Mr. Hutchinson told me I would last night. It's better than absolutely nothing for the work & $$ I invested to try to win it all this year!!
Thanks for the support & for reading my bitter tirade on this forum

YES!!!! They zeroed out the points for the Diawa Cup also. The top six guys were in a three day fish off.

Was this announced or posted at the begining of the season or something that was put together (changed?) at the last moment?

That just doesn't make any sence Jeff, I am very surprised that WON went with the shoot-out at the classic rather than stick with the points race.

WON should have spelled out the qualifications from the beggining so there would not be confusion or this type of let down. I'm very sorry to here of this.

Congrat's on the AOY, you deserve it.
