Pretty sensitive aren't you? I have 11 illegals who work right next door to my business and I have 3 Mexican workers who have become citizens in the last 20 years working in my shop. I can assure you that over 25% of the men next door bought homes during the melee. As the paper said many were used by unscrupulous investors to purchase more than one home. There was a huge push in the illegal community to take advantage of mortgages so brokers could make a killing. You are also low on your head count if you believe we have only 12 million illegals in this country. I might buy 20 million. Just look at the recent factory raids including one here where half of the employees were illegals. You are an apologist for open borders which is fine with me but even people like yourself have to be open minded enough to see the devastating impact on schools, hospitals and housing. Be patriotic and send double your tax bill in to help bail out your state.

I have a great appreciation for people from Mexico and their culture but I am also bright enough to understand that 5 MILLION of the 20 MILLION mortgages in default were owned by illegal aliens and since I do like my country I am definitely against illegal immigration.

I'm still waiting for your proof on that figure. Admit it, you heard that figure from Savage or some other right wing hate monger and you bought it hook line and sinker without even checking it out.

And for your information I have NO SYMPATHY for the people who took out loans they couldn't afford and now are defaulting-- regardless of their immigration status. As a family we scrimped and saved for many years before we could afford to buy a house. And now, because of those deadbeats and the lack of regulation by the politicians our house is worth less than what we owe. I personally think that we should bring back the concept of debtors prison for the worse offenders, but using a lie to blame it on illegal immigrants is shifting the blame from where it belongs.

Here is how i see it.
the liberals created policy to help low income home owners get approved for loans on houses. these are all 100,000.00 homes or less.
they created policy to waive downpayments and forgive bad credit etc.
the theory was that the bank at least had a home to forclose on if they poor person couldn't pay their bill.
but then lenders realized that there was no cap on the amount you could lend a person. then the lenders went after the middle class with this loop hole and started handing out jumbo loans with no down payment and no proof of employment salary etc.
they figured that since the housing market was on the rise, why not.
This was in 2003.

By 2005 **** was hitting the fan, the market was starting to slow and these lenders who had been raking in the cash didn't want it to stop. so they pushed even harder, bent the rules even more and kept issuing these crap loans.

the bubble burst and POOF!

interest rates shot up, these ARMS rolled over and all these people who had equity in their house and took it out to buy toys and stuff couldn't pay off the loans.

So while you can point fingers at the loop holes in the policy for poor people, they weren't the problem.

it was the Middle class and upper middle class using the loop holes designed for the lower class to try and get rich quick. So ,if this is even remotely true....we are trying to reward the middle class in the same way as wallstreet

Jeff-I heard it on KFYI which is a mainstream channel here. I am not blaming all of the economic problems on open borders but IMO it has had a huge impact on your state's economy and mine. Fact is that there is a much larger problem from Romanian immigrants in the mortgage debacle and those little investment groups are the ones who were using illegals as shill buyers for some big money schemes. My employees are Romanian and there was an underground network of bad people in that community who were communicating about how to work the scams. Doesn't mean I hate Romanians. You better not push for debtor's prisons unless you want to pay 90% in taxes. There are a lot of debtors out there today that are walking away from it all and my bet is a good number of them are on this site as well as others. Obama is now sweetening the deal to provide loans for small businesses interest free as well as checks for all so I may just switch being the whore that I am. Screw the grandkids.

Dont worry about these liberal people in california hrvstuff. They think the world revolves around their views. Thankfully, the world doesnt see it there way. I cant wait to vote yes on prop 8 and for McCain. It aint over till the fat lady sings. Polls dont capture how someone votes once they get in a voting booth and have to chose A. John McCain or B. Barack Hussein Obama. I wonder why he doesnt show his middle name? Hmmmmm.......
