Best Spinning Reel for the money??
When I get some more money I am going to invest in atleast 2 spinning gear outfits. I already know the rods I'm going to get but I know litterally nothing about spinning gear. I dont even own a spinning set up. Basically Im looking for the Curado B or the Revo of the Spinning gear world. About the same price range to(100$-150$)? I dont know when I am going to be getting these set ups but after being schooled on Shasta and haveing to borrow a set up from Phil Strader(thanks again Phil
) I figured it would be wise to invest in ATLEAST one set up LOL. So please any and all theadvice would be great!!

Re: Best Spinning Reel for the money??
I used to have a certate that was awesome, smooth, instant antiback good reel size/spool capacity and was virtually bullet proof I think its a 200 dollar reel or so I also had a stradic which I believe is in the price range you mentioned also a very reliable reel. Daiwa Team Daiwa® Advantage® Spinning Reels is what I would buy if I were in the market ... which I might be soon
for a new spinning reel. I own 3 of the TDA series bait casters and they are awesome! I love them.
Hope this helps narrow it down!

Re: Best Spinning Reel for the money??
Take a look at the Shimano Saros. They are a new reel that is the lower end of the better technology. Hope that make sense. They are just below the Stradic. Actually used them for the first time yesterday. I found a deal on line for a little under $100 per reel shipped. They performed well for me yesterday. I didn't get as much line twist while drop shotting as I usually do. Look on ebay or some other online retailers for some deals. I saved about $35 a reel by looking around. Lots of good reels out there, these are the ones I decided to try after doing a little research. Hope this helps.

My next purchase will be a U.S. Supercast reel, huge spool compact reel, no line twist, it'll give you very little line twist.

Gotta have a spinning rod, especially as a co-angler. I would check out the Abu Garcia Cardinal 802. Excellent reel. The bail is very stout, you won't bend it like other brands. The handle is also very stout. The drag is good and has a wide range of adjustment. I believe they retail for 130 or so.

Save your money bro, I bought one last year and sold it after a month.
The drag system on these reels are bad to say the least.
I believe Daiwa makes a 2500 spinning reel with the spool size of a 3000, I'm sure someone on here will know what model it is.

Rod-Thanks for the offer for now I do have one set up that I am borrowing from Phil Strader and if need be at Havasu I will use it there to.
Scott- I got your pm, thanks for the offer but I have litterally no money to spare I need to save as much as I can for the Stren at Havasu
Bill- Yes I do remember the "foo foo" stick I used up in clear lake for the Ralley. I know it wasnt the reels fault it was mine for not re-tying after you just caught that 6 on it not more then 5 minutes before LOL!! You can bet that will never happen again! By the way did you ever get any on that frog after the event? I thought that was pretty cool "No bill you gotta work it like this...twitch twitch SPLOOSH!!!!!" you take my advice and twitch...twitch SPLOOSH!!! Ahh you gotta love froggin!!
I am definately going to keep this thred saved in my favorites so I can remember which reels to do some re-search on. Hope fully by the end of next week I wil have an extra $5k to play around with so I can upgade all my bait casters and get a few spinning set ups.
Thanks for the advice and offers to everyone! I really appreciate it!

I wouldn't be caught dead without at least TWO spinning outfits at Havasu and that's as a boater...
Re: Best Spinning Reel for the money??
Does anyone have any imput on the Spirex 2000(the one that tacklewarehouse.com has on liquidation and isnt the rear drag system) the Stradic 2500FH, and the Saros 3000F? I can get a pretty good deal on any of those 3 and want to know the likes and dislikes of the 3. I kind of like the dual handle on the Spirex but as of now I also like the price on the Saros my only concern is that for the handle being able to switch sides? On tacklewarehouse.com it looked like it was side specific and all they only had one side? I just got a spinning rod(Dobyns DX 702SF) and would like a reel for is soon. Any help would be great! Thanks!

Re: Jason
I just picked up a Stradic 1000 for finesse fishing paired with a Powell 681L spinning rod. This reel is spectacular. I have it spooled with 6lb Invisx Fluro and after two weekends of HEAVY use at Clear Lake it has performed flawlessly. It handled a feisty 7-01 several 4's and numerous 2's and 3's very, very well. I do not think you will be disappointed with this reel - at all.Dewayne wrote:The Shimano Stradic was redesigned this year and the newer version is awesome. The 3000 series is a good size. Jason,
The only spinning real I use is the okuma Aveon. They go for 119.99 and I have put them through hell and they are still like brand new!

Re: Jason
Sub $100.00 and great reel is the Daiwa Exceler or Daiwa Theory (which isnt being made anymore) is also an excellent reel.

When it comes to spinning reels the Daiwa drag just seems to be a cut above the rest IMHO. (no sponsorships here)

Re: Jason
Jason, I have a couple of the Saros reels, and for the money, they are difficult to beat..I am sure there are better reels made, gut chances are they are also more expensive..I also have a couple of older Stradics I am willing to part with for a little cash..They have some rash and are obviously used, but they still work like they are supposed to..

Re: Jason
I personally like Daiwa a bit more than Shimano, but own both. FOr the money the Daiwa Excelers can't be beat, and make up most of my spin lineup. Any of the Shimano lines from the Sedona to the Symetre are great for the money also. If you have the money, the Daiwa Sol is incredible, as is the Certate. The Steez is super light weight, but I just can't afford one. I have the Shimano Saros and they are excellent. The 100o series currently resides on my UL, and I plan on buying a 3000 in the near future for fishing heavier DS and tubes. They are basically the revised version of the Stradic, and the new Stradic are upgrades on that design. Quantums aren't bad either. I like them, but they don't balance well on most of my rods. But they are very solidly built. My friend fishes them, and he is tough on gear, no problems with his after 4 years of daily use and abuse. They are just a bit too heavy for me.

Re: Best Spinning Reel for the money??
Not to burst to many bubbles here but for the money, about $60 bucks, Quantum makes a spinning reel combo called the Aray, and another called the Incise, both are excelent rods and reals, both come with IM 8 poles and I have landed plenty of big fish with these setups. Very sensative and strong. I know the Aray is available in three different sizes(20, 30 and 40) I own two 30's and am super happy with both, no complaints.
