2008 WON BASS LAKE MEAD OPEN

Post by Bill Hutcheson »

Las Vegas, NV – The Southern WON BASS Pro-AAA circuit will be making the second stop of the 2008 season with our Lake Mead Open on March 29-30th, 2008. The headquarters hotel for this event will be the Silverton Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas (800) 588-7711 while the launch site for the tournament will be the Callville Bay Marina.

With Nitro boats and Mercury motors on board as a WON BASS sponsors for 2008, the first place Pro angler can look forward to taking home the top prize of Nitro Z7 boat and trailer rigged with a Mercury 175hp ProXS motor, Lowrance electronics, and Trojan batteries valued at over $30,000 – all with no contingencies to meet! Certificates will be awarded so that the winning Pro may pick out the colors and other options they choose. Full paybacks may be seen on the official WON BASS website at WWW.WONBASS.COM.

For those anglers who do drive a Nitro, Bass Tracker, or Pro Craft, the Nitro Tournament Rewards program will also be in place for this tournament and will offer up to $7,000 to the winning pro angler. The Nitro Tournament rewards program offers some of the richest owner incentive paybacks in tournament fishing. To view the program and guidelines, check out www.fishingtourrewards.com for the complete details on the Nitro Owners incentive in place for the 2008 WON BASS season.

Pro entry on the WON BASS circuit is $500 while an AAA entry runs $225. Thanks to the folks at Nitro boats, WON BASS will be offering a first time discount to anglers who are new to the circuit or have not fished with WON BASS during the 2006 or 2007 season. New AAA Anglers will receive a 50% discount off their entry fee while Pro anglers will receive a 20% discount off their entry. And best of all, since Nitro is subsidizing this program, the paybacks will remain unchanged! Discounted entries must be phoned into WON BASS no later than January 22nd, 2008.

While daily big bass options worth a total of $2,300 are included in your entry fee, competitors may also throw their hat into the optional Big Stringer and High Roller jackpots worth thousands of dollars.

WON BASS Lake Mead anglers will be accumulating points towards the Southern “Angler of the Yearâ€

Hey Bill,
I love staying at the BPS Hotel but how is the parking going to be set-up?

What is the latest on the launching situation?

You can count me in.

Any co-angler (AAA) want to sign up with me just send me a PM to hook-up.

Ricky,

I don't know about the parking thing, but I think they are going to rope you guys off a section....launching right now is fine...the lake has come up a few feet this winter and the ramp is in excellent shape...still only 3-4 boats at a time, but at least no holes or rocks and junk. Lake Mead Marina is gone now, you can still launch there, but they moved the marina.....

Hello All,

Yes, we do indeed have discounted entry fees for first time or older returning anglers. $120 for AAA and $400 for pro's.

New angler criteria is that you must not have fished a WON BASS Pro/am event in 2006 or 2007 to qualify for the discounted rates.

Ricky, the Silverton hotel is going to have a parking lot with 24 hour security specifically for our WON BASS participants. They will have wired the lightposts (a la Sunset Station) for power so you can plug your chargers in to a dedicated power source. If the lot is not ready in time for the event, they are going to bring in a big industrial size generator to handle the job. The lot will for sure be ready by US Open time.

I could be wrong, and would care to be corrected if so, but this is from the WON website..

o Program is valid for the six 2008 WON BASS regular season Open events only.
o Only one discounted to the WON BASS circuit will apply per angler
o WON BASS membership and tournament options are not included in the discount price
o Discounted entries must be called into the WON BASS office at (949) 366-0030 ext 38. so we may verify your angling status. Entries must be phoned in before the tournament entry deadline of Tuesday noon prior to the event.
o Discounted entries are limited to new anglers, or returning anglers who have not fished any of the WON BASS Open Pro-am or US Open tournaments in the last two years.
o Jumping from AAA to Pro Ranks or visa versa does not constitute a new angler.
o Due to season long points races, regular season anglers will be given priority over incoming new anglers as the season progresses.
