New to the Reno area

Post by FishaHallic »

Hey guys just recently moved to Reno from Florida and I am missing my bass fishing. Although I did not have a nice bass boat I did have a nice jon boat set-up that I was forced to sell for the move across country, which brings me to my question.

Since I don't see me buying another boat I am thinking about trying a bellyboat, I figure I can use it a few times during the year to help me get my "Bass Fix". So the question is are there any good lakes within 1 1/2 hrs of Sacramento that would have some good shore lines to work out of a belly boat? Also, would the tactics I used in Florida work in California? I would throw rapalas (on the smaller side) and Charlies plastic shad (as a jerk bait) and do some flippin as well. Now I know these are not the best bait for big bass but just catching bass would make me happy at this point.

Thank for any help given and I'll try not to bombard you with too many questions on California tactics. Thanks again

The lakes you can check on is Almanor lake which is 120 miles north of Reno in Plumas cnty also Rollins Lake which is in Colfax ca. 1hr away west of Reno on inters. 80 just a 1/2 hr longer is Folsom Lake just go to Auburn/Folsom road off 80 go south on Aub/Fol. rd till you hit Douglas blvd turn left on Douglas that will put you in Granite Bay gate. Thoughs lakes should be good for what your looking for. Im sure theres more but thats only ones I can think of thats an hour away from you.

Hey, I also live in reno and there are a ton of lakes to fish within 2.5 hours.. Definitely check out oroville, folsom, the Ca delta, clearlake, on the tactics side: soft plastics such as drop shot, senko, wacky rig, shakey head and split shotting should catch you a ton of fish! good luck
