Saros F 1000 or 2500?

Post by afdean »

Wondering about balance/total weight... which reel to put on a 682sf or 682sxf Powell for dropshotting. Usually 6# floro or P-line CX premium. The 2500 Saros seems like the choice for retrieve rate, and spool diameter, but also seems pretty heavy for the light rod. The 1000 is pretty small, but maybe big enough since only using 6# line? Thoughts... opinions???

I'd go w/ the 1000 size reel, it balances nicely. the setup I have for d-shot is a 1000 sustain w/ a Loomis dropshot rod 822, I like it very much.

I have the Saros 1000 I like it cuz I use 4 and 5# line on it but it does run on the small side. I also have the Stradic MG 1000 and love that too. The Sustain is twice the price but a better reel.

The Saros is a great addition to the Shimano line.

Call me and I will fill you in with the details.

When are you going to get a new boat? The 21 is just to big for me.
Hell I can't even sell my boat right now with todays market.

Thanks for the inputs. I'm also considering the Stradic FI since it is only $30. more... The sustain is a bit much since I have other tackle to buy as well but I'm sure it is sweet.
