LOL! Thats pretty funny.

Nothing wrong with looking like a scrub. I always look like a scrub :P , my boat even looks like a scrub! Looking like a scrub has nothing to do with your ability to put fish in the boat.

Most guys wear their Birthday suits. I usually wear some suntain oil. I will even put a little oil on my lure. ....lol....jk...seriously 2 layers. One for Cold in the A.M. flying across the lake and light stuff for when it gets hot. I like to wear t-shirt and shorts with some light snowboard gear over it til it gets warm.

AS an AM I like to wear a hodie in the AM and zip off pants so when it gets hot later on i can get down to my t-shirt and shorts however first impressions are always lasting.
Wouldn't it be nice to know a guy who wore a blank fishing jersey his first tourney and looked representable and later has 3 sponsors in his 2nd year ?? I say it depends how you think you take fishing. serious ?? fun ? game ? competition ?? I'd say there is an appropriate outfit for all situations. or you could always go for the BMX Bassin way wear your birthday suit and go down in history as the only person to be arrested or kicked out of his first tournament event. Damm that would suck !!
good luck - Lancer

If you are registered with "Ranger Cup" and your tourny promots Ranger Cup. You will want to wear an approprete (sp) "Ranger Cup' wear.

In the mornig have a pair of snow goggles so you can see the logs and waives that could get ya.

Always have rain gear on board.

As far as what to wear, just like said above. wear something in the mornig for that early run. later in the day you should be able to "peel" off the outer layer.

a comfortable pair of shoes like tennies/ flip flops, a hat will also help.

and a LIFE VEST. but most of all wear a smile on your face all day long :D :D :D :D :D :D

you will want to wear clothes to keep you warm, you can always peel them off later when it gets warmer.

I would wear a PUMA hooded sweatshirt, it's stylish and functional :)

Layers is the right call. Plan for cold in the morning followed by heat in the afternoon.

I'm a new tournament angler this year myself, and a nobody to boot. For me, however, appearances are important as you want to properly represent yourself. At the sign-up and launch (for team and Pro/Am tournaments), I wear a tournament shirt. Same with the weigh-in and awards. During the fishing day, I'll take the tournament shirt off (so that it doesn't get trashed during the day) and end up in a tee shirt and shorts. I feel it's important not to look scroungy. Most of the tournament organizations have a statement in their rules requiring 'appropriate attire' - check your tournament organization for specifics.

Of course, I also still wear slacks and dress shirts at work, while many choose to wear jeans and polo shirts (or worse).

You'll find many different styles - just be true to yourself.

Hey 350V - I agree with everything you said except one thing -

Biteme,

As Gator has so kindly pointed out. SavePhace mask is a better face protetion product. I dont think anyone wants to hit a junebug going 70 mph :D :D :D Plus they are a site sponsor 8) 8)

Also, I "waive" my rights for my spelling tobe classified as 'hand gernad spelling". If its close or you can figure it out and I dont catch it before I "submit" well need I say more

Just to re-cap a SavePhase Mask would also be helpful at anytime to help you not hit logs or get caught at a bad angle by a rouge wave

Good luck with your tourny :D :D 8) 8) 8) Your question is good. It shows that you are looking at the big pitcure :D :D not just setten hooks 8) 8)

I read your report on the Fish Sniffer site--congrats on taking second place and big fish at Oroville. That's a great first tournament finish...
