I've got an older transducer for a Lowrance 332c mounted in my bilge area. Recently it has been so loud that we here it standing on deck at the bow. Is it going bad or can I do something to sound deaden it?
This is a sound noise not electrical. The clicking of the transducer.
Thanks

Are you getting the same sonar readings? If not, maybe the transducer is loose. Check it.

Re: Noisy transducer in boat
The crystal inside a transducer is encased in sort of an epoxy medium. The micro voltage that makes the crystal send out the sound wave actually makes the crystal "jump" inside the encasement. This process over a long period of time can create a larger void around the crystal. When this is the case, the noise or clicking sound the crystal makes gets louder.
There is an audible sound emitted even from a brand new transducer so as long as you are getting a good picture and the sound does not effect the fish movements around the boat, keep using it. When it bugs you too much, buy a new one.
