New Skeet Reese rods... Wright and McGill co.

Post by cib11b »

Wondering if anyone is going to give these a try? I know I am on a budget and the $89 tag is hard to pass up.. After losing my job $300 is hard to spend on a rod these days.

Anyone have any input on these rods? Ugly? Maybe.. But I think I want to give them a try.

It is great this year most of the Rod companies are making rods that affordable. I don't plan on getting one, but who knows, I might pick it up and like it. A lot of people do not like rods that aren't black in color, so I see that drawing people away. I don't mind colors, its kinda cool and different thats for sure.

I would fish with a pink rod if I liked it bro.. paint it like a tampon I don't care. If it is affordable and helps me put more fish in the boat sign me up.

Skeet says he would put it up to any rod out there so we will see.. I mainly use Loomis and Powell right now. I would like to see how it stacks up.

I used to have a wright Mcgill flyrod growing up, someone stole it when i went to replace the gave me an eagle claw flyrod, not nearly the quality but they sent it to me for free. I would certainly try anything with Wright McGill on it,they used to make fantastic rods. I dont flyfish much anymore but I will certainly check out the new bass rods. They used to be quality stuff. I have heard words of it being a nice rode, almost every manufacturer has come out with something new. After Reese and Lamiglas split ways, Lamiglas is now out with the new Excel rods, which most of the ICAST stuff is on tackletour.

Has anyone actually held one of them? I'm curious as to how they compare in weight to a Loomis Rod.

My sales rep from Wright and Mcgill just left. He had all the Skeet Reece rods with him put on your sun glasses boys they are bright.
The Rods are constructed of 4 layers of graphite and they are very light and bright Yellow/green with split handles. The flippin stick seems a little top heavy until you put a reel on it and then it balances out very nice. He has one fiberglass crankin stick, 2 spinning rods, I believe there is a total of 9 rods in the set. I am supposed to get one to try in the next couple of weeks.
I placed an order for them but was told they wouldn't be ready for shipping till September.

Then there is the new Tro-Kar hooks did you ever believe that a hook could be to sharp, these could be the ones that are.
