New Gamakatsu Wacky Weedless hook

Post by Long Nguyen »

Well, it certainly takes ques from Andre's WW Hook of years past. Though I bought some Gamakatsu shiner hooks, I never got to tying weedguards on them. Looks like I'll never have to with the introduction of these hooks.

No details on what sizes, but this photo was a sneak peak on bassmaster.com. To be released next week at ICAST.

Looks good to me, and I prefer the mono weedguard over the metal Falcon hooks one. I never did like how the metal guard of the Falcon hooks come out of eyelet.

Long,

Check out Pepper jigs assortment of wacky rigging hooks and heads, I really like the weedguard on them beacuase you can trim it for less or leave all the strands for water like CL and the Delta.

One other Item of note is that with the pepper jigs and hooks, they always hook the fish in the side of the mouth, the fish do not swallow them it is amazing!!!
Four Decades of Red!!!!!!!!

When in Doubt Set the Hook!!!

Looks like the exact same wacky hook they already have, they just cut the perpendicular piece that used to attach the guard underneath the barb? Other than that, how is this one any different??

Gamakatsu has made this popular shiner hook for many years, without the weedguard. By adding the weedguard, this hook will become better known as a weedless wacky or weedless dropshot hook.

Great combination of strong, light wire; sticky sharp point; and point directly in-line with direction of pull.

The upturned eye with the point in-line makes this a very different hook than their existing finesse wide-gap hook, and also a much better hook for most cases.

ciao,
Marc
