New Berryessa regulations

Post by TritonBrent »

Curious to see how this is going to impact tournaments on Berryessa the beginning of next year.

"Per Bureau of Reclamation, all vessels visiting from invasive mussel infested waterbodies, including the Delta, must certify that they have been cleaned, drained, and dried for 30 days prior, or decontaminated. Otherwise, you will not be allowed to launch in Lake Berryessa until further notice"

What their decontaminated process?
Lake Casitas has 35 days cable locked boat to trailer before your boat can be launched after the clean and dry inspection. This forces boaters to dedicate a boat to fish Casitas.

Berryessa is only a start Oroville Clear lake Shasta Folsom will all go that way eventually. I wouldn't count out the motherlode lakes or central valley lake out either. It will be mandated throughout the state eventually. Funny thing is the golden mussels have been there the 75 years. State officials just decided to get off there lazy butts to start checking. Now they have post something and that's how the regulations start. One by one the lakes will start getting hit. It only takes one bureaucratic in this state to get the ball rolling.

The only body of water that wont get hit with regulations will be the Delta to many place to put boats in. And marina owners aren't going to enforce those laws. Why kill your business.

I have been living this nightmare for more than 10 years now. It's not going away. In fact it will spread throughout the state. If you think this isn't coming to your local lakes you are wrong. This should have been fought at it's inception here at Casitas. Now with a golden mussel added to the mix of zebra and quagga, they will lock it down even though it looks like the blunder was at the state or federal level with only the citizenry left to deal with what destruction is wrought. All the gov. agencies will do is point fingers at one another while nothing is accomplished and taxpayer money is spent on more boondoggles. Kayaks are on the list as well here at Casitas so don't get any hopes up about that route.
Who would of thought??????...LOL. It's been coming for years.

So when questioned, does everyone say they haven't been on the delta for 30 days? what a mess!!! somehow this is about to turn into a big moneygrab with fees, inspections, and decontamination.

This might make a great Ultimate bass radio discussion between the people that are going to put regulations on there lakes and an a discussion with tournament orgs. Bass fisherman and the folks that are putting up the regulations. Im just curious how fast every lake will do this to protect there water ways. Its obvious the delta will never get control of the situation. To many mile of of waterways. Going scorch earth on regulations will kill tournament bass fishing in Ca. And its a shame If it starts with berryessa will DFG permits be stop for tournament fishing across the state.
