O’Neill Forebay

Looking to take a buddy for some stripers. Can anyone please share best time period to go to forebay? Never fished there so any information is appreciated.

Fall has always been the best for me on the Forebay and San Luis. Usually more days without too much wind. Make sure your boat is clean and dry. Their inspections are thorough. Hard to send water south if the plumbing gets clogged up with mussels.

Not sure how rough the water gets in the forebay, but I suggest if the wind is up much respect needs to be shown in the main San Luis lake, especially in a small craft.

Big lake kicking out strip bass to 10lb my son was there sunday in basult bay in 130 feet on cut bait they caught a bunch of fish. The were 4 people on the big v bottom boat. I like the forebay from Sept thru Nov. I use Gitzits and Big Blade baits Rattletraps in the forebay.
