A close friend of mine (since high school!) recently moved from Northern ID to Moses Lake, WA. Now that he has retired he wants to start fishing again. He lost all his gear to some thief long ago and never replaced anything. I sent him four rods from my collection ranging from spinning to Flippin and promised I would put together a care package of baits. I don't know anything about this lake, he says it shallow. I looked at it from Google Earth but that is not much help. I hate sending him baits which will not be effective. If anyone has any knowledge of Moses Lake and can help me with bait choices I would appreciate it.
Thanks

Re: Moses Lake, WA
Moses Lake is one of the best in the state for both largemouth and smallmouth. It's full of big ones.
Largemouth fishing can be done several ways and there are plenty of docks, wood, tules and grass to flip and pitch. ChatterBaits also work excellent.
Smallmouth fishing is also great there. I like to crank rocks there and there are plenty of places to do that. The lake is almost always very stained but finesse stuff still works. Usually though, pitching dark jigs and fishing craw or red pattern cranks works the best.
Check out the Navionics WebApp on the Navionics website, it shows many of the great points, rocks and islands where the smallmouth will be.

Here's some more reports, from the lake report pages of WesternBass:

Another lake worth checking out is Potholes Reservoir, almost within spitting distance of Moses Lake. At one time, it held a good population of walleye, don't know if that's still the case.
