TH Marine Battery Tie-down Buckles: Help!

Post by Bob Simard »

Hey -

I pulled my starter battery to charge, went to put it back in, and can't for the life of me figure out how to strap it back in.

Does anyone have one of these and can you describe how to route the tag end of the strap? e.g. run through the bottom, then back, etc.?

I've tried about everything and am getting nowhere.

thanks - Bob

Bob,
If your buckle has two parallel slots, bring the strap up the underside of the buckle to the slot closest to the engaging end, thread it through that slot and then back down through the other slot. That's how mine are threaded. When you draw down on the strap, it puts pressure on itself, and tightens.

Battery Tie Down

Post by kalan »

Mine have a buckle with 2 sets of 'teeth' on one end that are made of plastic and spring together. The other end of the buckle is single just a loop that I can pass the tag end through. I thread the strap so the teeth end is the first end the tag end passes through. First I pass the tag end thru the 2 sets of teeth from underneath. Then I pass the tag end over the buckle to the other end and through the loop end on the other side.

Min e is one of those black straps with the 2 orange stripes. Can't remember the brand offhand.

I hope this helps.
