Making soft plastics

I know that there are many sites that could point me in the right direction but I trust the input from the westernbass anglers.
I have never made my own soft plastics but I am looking to learn. I have zero experience in making any form of tackle besides home modifications.
Would anybody mind posting a list or materials, tools, tips, tricks to help me get started?

If you just want to experiment you can make a mold of any bait with a flat side using plaster of paris . You can heat up a handful of old plastic baits in a pyrex cup in an old microwave for 60-120 seconds . Probably easier to just buy a mold in a style you're interested in to start . Don't breath fumes from the melted plastic . Hot plastic and water don't mix and will splatter hot plastic on you . It can be addictive and your mind will race with unique color combinations.

I just started pouring myself. As stated it's very addicting....especially once you start catching fish on your homemade plastics. Lurecraft has the best variety I've found so far. Check out YouTube for endless videos on the basics.

ddd, Ive been thinking of doing the same thing making my own plastic worms just for fun. I've seen checking out a starting kit from Do-it molds for $200 the kit comes with everything that you can use to start with. Plastic ,glitter ,color ,gloves,injector etc. All you need is a microwave oven and a well vented room. There is alot of youtubesome you can check out that can help you get started. Good luck .

I used to pour and design my own plastics and tried many different additives, Plastics and molds. What I found was Lure Craft for molds and additives, and MF Plastic for the liquid plastic. You'll need a Hot plate, MicroWave oven, some 1 cup Pyrex measuring cups and a few pour pots. Most of all is you need a well vented area to do it in. In a garage, on a work bench at a window with a window fan that is blowing OUT is the best. YouTube has many videos on how to do various things like multipul colors and blood lines in the same bait. I't would take a book to explain everything here, so watch a video then experiment. You'll learn as you go, and when you catch a big 'en on YOUR bait it's awesome !! Good luck, and have fun !!
