Lucky Craft Staycee 90 - Replacing Hooks?

Post by RC »

Any secret to replacing the hooks on these? Having a hard time getting the origional hooks off of the split rings because they are so damn small.

Thanks,

I agree Hawghunter. That's the easiest and fastest. Try up sizing to #4 Gammys, it will cut down on lost fish.

I rep those pliers if any of you dealers are interested! They are great, stainless so they don't rust in your boat. Gary Dobyns says they're the best he's used also!

Thanks to all. Don't have that tool and don't change hooks a lot...this is the first time actually, but I have lost some fish and decided its time to change out the hooks.

Tried using my thumb nail but don't have much of one, will have to use some needle nose.

I use my letherman pliers. It works jsut fine. Grab one of the rings with the pliers and grab the hooks with your other hand and kinda do a little twist with the pliers it will open up a little gap slide the hook eye throughkeep it there grab the new hooks and put it in the gap with the old hooks and just slide it through. the old one will come off and the new one will stay on! I hope this helps!

Try Leadmaster split ring pliars, and you'll never use anything else.
They are small enough for the split rings on Staycees, but work for big rings like for 3/0 swimbaits, too.
I don't know who sells them up your way, but you can buy them direct.
