I'll lose skirts if I use too much scent attractant, but I've only had a small percentage ever outright break. seemed kinda of like there time.

Question was'nt skirts, is was the blade. Not ment with any offense, but, do you ever answer a question with a straight answer ??

I asked a friend once what time it was, and he proceded to tell me how the watch was built . :(

Phil,

If I see that the bend is opening at all, or if it appears to not be closed enough, I just take a pair of needle nosed pliers and close it. If you bend it in and make it a circle as opposed to the oval shape that it is, it typically works better. Always keep the end of the wire on the inside of the V of the wire though, because if you bend it beyond the wire, it'll sometimes catch weeds that you typically wouldn't without the bend. Pretty simple fix.

I tried twisting once, then the wire would be like you said get caught on weeds or even your line sometimes. I have new process and we solder or drop of jb weld at that point and it has seemed to stop the probelm.

thank you for your reply.

The only spinnerbaits to fall apart on me after just a few fish were the Strike King 4 blade baits. The wire holding the blades would just snap in half. Those things are garbage! Not sure if they are making them better, but I haven't bought one for a long time now. Also their customer service could care less.

Look Phil. I answer alot of your questions....directly and indirectly. I answered your shad question. My input was that I don't have a spinnerbait breaking problem....AT ALL. And writing that you don't mean offense is kinda like people saying "your kid is ugly bless his heart". Its still grouchy......

I will refrainfrom wasting your time in the future.

My friend,I apologize, I am old man and do not wish to argue with you or debate with you please. The question was about fish shaking off blades, had the nothing to do with loosing skirts or fish formula etc. Point ? Now if you want to know the lake level ask me. Or any other question, and no your kid is not ugly, wrong analogy
Thank you.......Phil BTW did you buy the Crestliner ????

Phil............ buddy you gotta chill out doood.........you roasted him he, was just helping

Really if it is happening that much you r fishin a low grade blade, switch brands.

Spinnerbaits are gonna bust not ment to last forever, blades comin off not supposed to happen....if you cant crimp it its not worth it.

Believe me I modify almost every bait I fish......they did not intend for you to have to soilder/weld it to fish it :?

Shoot..... I put trap hooks on my blades they cant be falling off for any reason.

The life of a spinnerbait is decreased when fished with spectra....bait becomes the weakest point.

My 2 cents

As indicated above, check the loop at the end of the upper arm to make sure it's closed. Crimp it closed without slipping the end off either side of the wire if there's a gap. If the loop is trashed, make a clean cut just in front of the loop and rebend. If you fish lots of spinnerbaits you may want to invest in an inexpensive pair of round nose pliers. They're much kinder to wire than the sharp edges of needlenose and make perfect round bends. You can find a good selection at jewelry supply stores. These are from Fire Mountain Gems. Just make sure you get a pair with short jaws.

You guys are forcing me to ad and I can not. They are mine and I am trying to improve. I test proto types catch a bunch of fish, but now and then a fish shakes off the blade and swivel. I f this happens to a customer, I am crap you know. So thnks for all the response, i will crimp harder and maybe roll the end.

I would analyze the Revenge Spinnerbait design- this is one of the best designs for spinnerbaits. The predessor of VPR-Pro I had the same issue that you are speaking of, the bend would open up and lose the swivle and blades. I wrote the company, they replaced it and the same thing happend. Then revenge came out and I have not had this problem since.

I am not a spinnerbait maker, perhaps your question is better suited on a bait building website like jenns where you have hobbiest and builders vs here where you have end users more then bait makers.

I will say as a consumer if I saw a blade that had solder vs a clean round bend I do not know if I would purchase it. I know that blade runner bends the wire down onto itself and places a plastic insert tube over it to keep the weeds from building up.

There are many different designs, and I think the art of it is trial and error until you come up with exactly what you want.

Jigs, take a look at the old Stanley SB , After practicing I became as almost as good as them which I never had a problem after that. I wore the head and swivel before it was ever retired, kinda like a buzzbait ,the older the better, good luck remember practice, practice, practice :D

Pretty good Idea that LuckyCraft is looking at the spinnerbait market. I happen to know how they solved this problem. You will see soon :D :D

Wow! Now there is news ! After being a small LuckyCfart deale for years. After we closed and retired, it is still my second go to bait for cranks and ripbaits after the spinnerbait. Can't wait to see the spinnerbait, I just may quit my hobbie of making them ?
