Long Beach area lakes???

Post by DougH »

I'm going to Long beach for a few days next week. Are there any lakes nearby?

I don't think so. Unless there are parks nearby with a small lake in it that allows fishing. You can hop on a 1/2 or 3/4 day ocean boat pretty easy though.

hmmm, ya that's what I was afraid of. I can't fish the ocean cuz I'm a sea-sickness person, no matter what I take...

Doug,
Long Beach has El Dorado Park, which had five man-made ponds in a chain.
Here's the link:

http://www.longbeach.gov/park/parks_and ... l_park.asp

The ponds are on the north side of the road, Spring St., the cuts the park in half.
You can easily walk around and fish the last two in half a day.
I've seen some good bass come out of the last two ponds at the north end, which are on the north side of Wardlow.

Doug,

I have fished the El Dorado park before, didn't have any luck really but there are some nice little pond/lakes there for sure. try those if you want, and if I remember right I don't think I paid to enter.

Wow,

Thanks guys! I was afraid I was gunna be stuck in LB with nothing to do for a few days! Wifie has to go to a work seminar for a couple of days, so I while she gets smarter, I need to find things to do duing the daytime. So what's better than throwing a line in somewhere?

Mark - thanks for the link. Even if nothing bites, it's still better than sitting in a hotel room.

Sky88, sweet info bro, thanks a ton!

Eric - good luck at the big showdown!
