Lakes near Alamogordo, New Mexico?

Hi guys! I have been a lurker for awhile and finally registered.

I am moving to Alamogordo, New Mexico in a week, I have a pond hopper that my son and I fish out of - any spots within a couple hundred miles of Alamogordo?
Camping would be a plus too, Thanks.

Elephant Butte in T or C and Caballo Reservoir just south of that. I think there is a small lake between Artesia & Carlsbad - Brantley?

It's the Land of Enchantment, not the Land of Many Lakes. You can surf the sand dunes at White Sands though

Thanks! I will miss Oklahoma, every little body of water around here has nice bass fishing and there are lots of ponds and small lakes.
