Lake Tulloch

Post by Zebra13 »

Gents,

What can you tell me about the fishing at Lake Tulloch?

I drove by it the other day and saw that it was beautiful, and had lake front houses. Every spring my wife and I take a week long bass fishing vacation with friends wherein we rent a house, fish, drink beer, eat like pigs, and enjoy the hell out of it. If the fishing is decent at Tulloch, we may try it out this year. Plus we could fish New Melones.

We'd be going around the first of April.

Thoughts and advice appreciated

Thanks,
Justin

Fishing is pretty good there. A lot of really nice fish. Lake has spotted bass largemouth and smallmouth. I have never trout fished there but also have heard there is really nice trout. I live in Oakdale so its a 15 min drive away

You'll like it ! April is spawn and there's lots of Large Mouth in there. Also some really great Smallies as an added bonus. Only thing to be concerned about is the water level. I've heard it's good now, but haven't seen it. I'd call the camp ground and they can give you more info.

Tulloch is a awesome fishery, when you launch you'll head N/E then its branches off, head right and fish that arm. Majority of bass that my friends and I catch are in that area. The lake should always be full for a while cause their releasing water out of Melonies and it feeds into tulloch. I always end up wacky riggin a 5" senko in 297 or 330 color and whack them. The thing is though is if their not feeding it's tough but when they are you could have a great time. The smallies are so fun to catch and their so beautiful. If you get chance go to melonies and throw some big baits and you have a chance to catch fish of a lifetime at that lake. I honestly think this spring is gonna be one of the best we've had.
